Smudge
Highest Guernsey crowd 255 on the mainland this season, yes I know it was in the F.A Vase, their first in the competition.Crowborough were hardly pulling up trees at the time, and ran them close at 2-3.This game kicked off at 3pm,probably why they had an extra 91 people through the gate to watch.Lets take this from your own Players perspective, are 1 pm kick offs the norm,no they are certainly not,as when you visit Guernsey its always 3pm,never 1pm.WHY.Do you like waiting in limbo to play, when you get to Guernsey? The problem with 1pm K.O. over here is,Groundhoppers cannot get to another game,so Revenue Lost. You have Sky Sports, that shows a 12.45pm game, you cannot watch in your clubhouse prior to a 1 pm K.O.Revenue Lost. Then of course you have the Guernsey FCTV online channel, that gives no Revenue to your Club, but so far every Club bar 1 Camberley have allowed to be broadcast in the UK.Whyteleafe have succumbed to the 1pm Con,expecting a bigger crowd and bar take,Croydon have already been asked for a 1pm K.O for their December 8th Fixture. When will you all wake up and smell the coffee,Guernsey are not doing it for your benefit,I can assure you. The Mayor Of Simpleton
Some fair points, Smudge, and maybe Alan could explain the reasons why. Aren't Winter kick-offs earlier than Spring/Summer ones though?
Chris Clapham
The thing is Smudge, different club's have different needs. For example, we are due to play Guernsey on 17th November (subject to FA Vase results next week). Raynes Park Vale and AFC Wimbledon are at home on the same day. We have discussed a Friday night game with Guernsey (not heard anything yet) and we have offered a noon kick off on the Saturday so as many people as possible can come to Wibbandune and get to other 3pm matches and GFC visitors can have a beer and food before there flight back. From our point of view, we have to do what is best for US first and then Guernsey. As a traditionalist, I would prefer 3pm Saturday but, sometimes, we have to make profitable sacrifices! Smudge
Adam,Alan does not have to explain anything, the Clubs mutually agree Kick Off Times. They just cant say NO,when the E.Mail, phone call arrives.Likewise they change their routine at home,Ball Boys,Extra special Food, etc. It becomes a charade, just to impress. Then they get beat, and it is all smiles

Chris not in disagreement with a Friday/Saturday noon K.O.but will they accept?Guildford made sacrifices last year by playing Midweek to accomodate Guernsey, will Guernsey accomodate you though?Maybe they will reply after the Whyteleafe game? Lee Farmie
Guernsey politely asked if we were prepared to kick off earlier so they didn't have to rush straight off to Gatwick in the event of the match going to extra time. They suggested 2pm. I offered 1pm so they could stay longer in the bar longer (if they want to) and so some groundhoppers may move on to watch Chipstead, Merstham or someone if they want to. If their supporters want to go to the Whyteleafe Tavern, that is their choice (it wouldn't be mine if I were them but each to their own). I don't regret moving our kick off time to 1pm and I don't see GFC a cash cow to be milked. I'm looking forward to a good game and a few beers with then after the match. Smudge, do us a favour and go and boil your head.
Chris Clapham
If either of GFC or us progresses or is eliminated next Sat in the Vase, the game will be played midweek!

Mr.Chris Layton, Secretary Whyteleafe FC.aka Lee Farmie.I do not take kindly to personal insults posted on this Forum, regarding what you would like too happen to me.I am the king of karma, not my fault Whyteleafe are languishing in mid table in the Kent League, with the lowest crowds ever. Not my fault either they got relegated from Ryman 1 South last year either, suggest you look closer to home to see where the fault lies.BLUEBOTTLE shall never forget those words you printed about me.Thought you were a better man than that, how wrong can I be.
