still in the FA cup and top of the league so not all bad.....that's the trouble being top of the league every team wants to beat you. Another thing that made me laugh was when the Maidstone supporters sang.... 'top of the table your having a laugh' now how many times has that be sung to us in the last few years, felt quite good :D

I was only ever going to watch the first half due to work, even so, I had not seen the 1st team for a while, I was looking forward to watching the "New Margate". Instead, what i saw was the kick it up, head it up side we were when i wrote a post last season regarding putting a net across the 1/2 way line and laying sand so we could call it beach volley Ball, replacing the players with scantily clad Brazilian babes.

I was really disappointed with what I saw.

Am i right or am i wrong. If you run with the ball in midfield, beat a man,you look up to your left , see your winger in space and screaming your name. " what do you do" give the ball to the said winger ( who has the beating of the defender nearly every time). "NO" you turn right beat 2, try to beat a 3rd, then you play the ball to the position the winger was in originally. Oh Dear, guess what. He wasn't there. Ok we all make mistakes "but" how many times, week in week out do you have to do it before it sinks in.

I feel most disappointed again for the club, who i feel have again been let down by their employees. The prize money accumulated,by a good Trophy run would go along way to paying their wage bill.

Even Stoke are leaving that game behind as this season English football goes through a seed change.

Back to the drawing board guy's

First loss of the season and the way we play is dreadful?????

Agree - the above post was really detrimental to the team on whole, the team have made Hartsdown a difficult place to come and play and not many teams will (IMO) come here thinking its gonna be a walkover. Blueblood Im not sure your post is warranted on this occasion. :(

Equally disappointed with the loss-and in particular the loss of prize money-but frankly-could not care less how we play-hoofball is fine by me as long as we win.just want effective football-and effective football is often direct football at this level.

Unfortunately-it seems on saturday-neither a nice passing game-or an effective hoofball was in evidence.very disappointing-but its unlikely that we were ever going to win every game.

Detrimental. Maybe, ask the 2 separate first time this season paying customers I picked up tonight. Both had been regulars in past seasons but, had been worn down by some of the dross served up. They came with expectation on Saturday, after the start to the season, saw the game. They say nothings changed, they will not be back.

I believe since the Olympics peoples expectations have changed, they are more reluctant to put up with mediocrity, they want to be entertained, they have also realised from what they have seen that there are other sports out there.

To be honest, if they were going to make that assessment after one game and ignore the other 9 data points - that's how many unbeaten competitive games we've played - then I doubt they'd be back anyway. And we mustn't ignore Maidstone and how they played. Stating the obvious I know but there are always 2 teams on the pitch and they pressured us very effectively throughout the most of the first half so kudos to them perhaps, rather than it's all Margate doom and gloom. I don't htink anyone is saying we played well in the first half - although we were much better in the second - but I think most people are willing to put the result in the context of the season so far and the key objectives for the rest of the campaign.

And the reality is that there's another factor. I wonder how supporters would prioritise all the competeions we play in? No "equally most important"! I would imagine the list would look very similar to the club's, and to pretty much all other clubs too.

Assuming you haven't just invented these customers to back up your argument, they are fickle halfwits and no great loss. This has been our best start to a season for a decade. I hope they enjoy watching the modern pentathlon.

Maidstone were probably the best side to come to Hartsdown this season.

We were definitely under par on the day and nowhere near as good as we have been in other games. Having said that, we still created enough chances to have won it.

I am disappointed to have lost to another Kent side but in all reality, a good run in all cups would hinder a promotion push. I would rather have lost last Saturday than this one coming as the financial rewards are greater in the FA Cup.

It has taken 10 attempts to chalk up our first defeat of the season. We are top of the league and games have been generally enjoyable.

Yes, disappointing to have lost to Maidstone but I am pretty happy with the season do far.

Only seen 4 games-but saturday was always coming.

I do think the 9 undefeated games paint a slightly false picture-and we are certinly no world beaters.

as someone posted-a great START.

Don't quite see us as top 5 at moment-but top 8 or so-yes-and more than happy with that-and there will be more games where it does'nt go well-thats football.

Saturday is realy important though-that is a must win imo.

Not worried about promotion push-if it happens great-but its 2013/14 where we should be aiming for promotion imo.

slow steady progress is the bestimo-and we do seem to be delivering that this season

I certainly was disappointed with the result at the time (mainly because we went ahead and still ended up losing) but, as others have said, the streak was always going to come an end at some point. Maybe it's the kick up the backside some of the players need - we need to know we're not invincible. Having said that, the twenty-minute spell or so we had at the start of the second half (up until we gifted them the equaliser, really) would have been enough to score 2 or more goals against most teams we have played this season, and that certainly would have changed the game.

Onwards and upwards: as CK has always stated, we're not going to get too carried away when we win, nor too despondent when we lose. Let's have wins tonight and, even more importantly, Saturday

I am in two minds now - to be honest I thought we were not very good on Saturday with the exception of 2 or 3 players - with no Sam Long we seemed to be ultra reliant on Tommy Murphy who did well of course but until Matt Bodkin came on I couldn't see much activity down the other side and as usual no one on the back at corners and free kicks and guess where the ball ended up most of the time ? My companion,a visitor to the area for the weekend, was not overduly impressed either BUT yes you can't win every game and yes it was a non league cup game but that particular cup probably has more capability for progression than the FA Cup does so why didn't we perform better ? So what about tonight ? KSC competition - who will be picked to play as it is such a minor game in certain respects and more importantly possibly - how many spectators will bother to come with Champions League on the telly and it is the shirt wearers team being shown tonight. See you at HDP I hope
