is one correct in assuming that a certain mr appiah in the aveley squad is not related ?

meanwhile-i read that the 'real deal' did'nt get on the pitch at aldershot yesterday

Despite the lack of goals Holdsworth has only played him for about 10 mins as a sub so far. The locals are getting restless.

very pleased to read that the first goal from dolby was following richard avery's header at a corner.

i could not understand why in the enfield game-avery was held back in defence at our attacking corners ,when he is one of our best aerial threats-seemed a waste of a resource/outlet-hopefully corrected

Neutral report from Kempster forum. He also mentions the crowd figure:

FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round

Mill Field

Aveley 1-4 Margate

Admission : think it was £7 + Prog looked OK plenty of F&F + Badge (£4).

Attendance: official 131 - I counted far more in my brief h/c guesstimate

Directions: - jn 31 M25 NW on Ship Lane - follow signs for Aveley left at T-junction in town centre then right (N) onto Mill lane - though probably get there just as quick from jn 31 via the A1306 - Purfleet arterial road over the A13 and in along Sandy Lane to the top of Mill Lane?

M25 was only partially F£(&ed this PM from about jn 2 - and down through the Tunnel. Still arrived just after KO having left with approx 20 mins to spare.

Facilities: Plenty of work ongoing here few 'terrapins' and portakabins dotted around - lots of temporary fencing. Small car park full - but some street parking out on the main road.

- big clubhouse outside turnstile - need to get the gates opened should loos be needed during the game.

Large Seated Stand up above the pitch - some cover over on the far side and down one end behind the goal. Club Shop tucked away nr main stand and Tea Bar hatch opened form the clubhouse into the ground. Did Hot Dogs and Burgers as well as Hot Drinks snacks etc.

Match: well matched for the 1st half - Margate gradually worked their way thorugh an obdurate midfield and scored just before half-time. Home side possessed an aerial threat which Margate just about held at bay.

Away side pulled three goals clear midway through 2nd Half - attacked well down the left and twice had men over on the far post who scored. Home side pulled one back but Margate restored the gap to three later on - this time down the right - Aveley defence again went missing.

..back home over the bridge - fortunately the problems on the M3 didn't hinder our return by much - managed to get off at M3 jn3 just as the traffic started backing up again following an earlier serious accident northbound nr jn 4?

131??? What a joke we must have had at least 100 there.

I know the directors were asking the official attendance after the game but all Aveley officials asked at the time said they didn't know!

Aveley report: I notice from this and other reports that my wonder kid just needs to brush up on his finishing and then he'll be a "REAL" handful. Good on you Ryan for getting m.o.t.m on-line, now to improve your last ball in and your finishing and you'll be star man on many other occasions I'm sure. But more importantly you'll be contributing in a big way to the teams efforts and good results.Keep it up!
