F.A Vase Costs.

Just to clarify regarding our Vase trip to Guernsey - we received travel costs to Gatwick airport and obviously the flights and hotels were covered for 20 people. We did not receive any of the gate receipts as apparently island clubs do not have to do this. We had a fantastic weekend and loved the experience but the club did not make any money from the trip.

Normal FA rules state teams share the net gate receipts after expenses including opposition travelling costs which will also includes accommodation costs in this instance

22. PROCEEDS OF MATCHES PRIOR TO THE FINAL

(a) The net gate receipts due from a match (except replayed matches in consequence of a

breach of the Rules) shall be the total ticket sales for the match less VAT, the travelling

(and possibly accommodation) expenses of the Visiting Club, the fees and expenses of the

Match Officials, and other match expenses allowed under the Rules (which includes costs

relating to gate attendants, turnstile operators, stewards, police charges, floodlighting in

accordance with the Rules, contributions to costs of First Aid Helpers, and any costs

relating to the clearing the ground of snow and water provided the Visiting Club is consulted

beforehand on the approximate costs). The National Game Board shall have the power from

time to time to issue instructions as to what shall and shall not be allowed as a match

expense.

Net gate receipts shall be divided as follows:

(i) In all matches prior to the Final, the net proceeds of each match shall be divided

equally between the competing Clubs.

So when Guernsey come to Whyteleafe, and fly over, stay in a hotel overnight this will be deducted before any money can be shared.Or will they suggest a 1 pm k/o,to save on cost. There is no way any Club can earn a penny playing them then,on crowds less than 400 surely.Only if they beat them of course to get the F.A. Money.I am getting a little bit tired of Clubs saying they had a great time, when they have lost.Eversley had the greatest time by beating them, and having a plan, then called cheats, malingerers by a few on here.Show some backbone Fellas, its about your Club, not the individual surely.

I've a feeling (not 100% on this) Guernsey will have to pay their own costs of travel / accommodation (part of FA agreement to let them enter National Competitions). Whyteleafe may have to pay GFC travelling costs from Gatwick - that cost coming out of net gate proceeds. GFC would certainly have to pay Whyteleafes travel & accommodation costs if any replay was needed (the Clubs may mutually agree to conclude the game on the Saturday if it suits). Do you have to always win to have a good time? Does winning guarantee a good time? Probably not.

From my experience of the Vase, then the outline from GF is correct. Seems quite fair to, all things considered.. Although not sure about the bit from Gatwick, certainly airfares etc have in the past been the responsibilty of the island club.

I seem to recall that when my old club played, the home receipts were offered to the UK club but they usally allowed the island team to keep them to help offset the cost.

And similarly would Guernsey not have to share the loss? Would cost Guernsey a few quid whatever happens I would have thought home or away.

I would imagine they would have to cover any loss.

I didn't realise gate receipts were split anyway but it seems odd that guernsey wouldn't have to do it. Surely there must be a rule somewhere about this in the competition rules or is it just a gentleman's agreement sort of thing?

I remember reading in the guernsey press that GFC were hoping for home games going forward to cover more of the costs as they still have to pay out whether it's home or away.
