Tom S
Not my greatest ever picture - not quite in focus and not quite horizontal but it is clear that 1. the linesman is in a dreadful position, but the six yard line should have given him a pretty strong clue and 2. Joe's front foot is visible right on the edge of the frame and he is clearly behind Neil Johnston as the ball is ]crossed. A goal at that moment would have made things much simpler. andyetfc
'Not my greatest ever picture - not quite in focus and not quite horizontal' Claerly standards are slipping Tom.
Tom S
No. I get plenty like that but delete them.
MbrunoB
I think the flag went up on the pass to Neil.
Steve Newing
Neil is passing the ball and flag still not up yet ?
Tom S
If you look at the full set of my pictures you'll see that the flag was put up after Joe played the ball, not Neil. I'm also told that the linesman said he'd given the scorer offside.
MbrunoB
Yes, Joe was offside when the ball was played to Neil so if Neil had scored it would have stood.
andyetfc
And there's me thinking we had won and the disallowed goal didn't really matter. Mind you, I knew their disallowed goal was offside and I was at the far end of the ground!
MbrunoB
Bring back the days when offside was offside instead of now where its not offside if there is an R in the month and a strong head wind.
Steph
MBrunob "Yes, Joe was offside when the ball was played to Neil so if Neil had scored it would have stood" That is my interpretation of what happened. But I dont think the ball would have gone in without Joe's intervention. In any event the pass forward did come off a defender. Hey Andy - still keeping to ref habits and not keeping up with play. andyetfc
The lino was already 'sprinting' back into position for the next phase of play!
MbrunoB
The pass forward coming off a defender has nothing to do with it anymore as it's when the ball is played.
