Faversham 2 Margate 2

Not the free flowing football I was expecting but a draw is about fair. We seemed to play to Favershams tempo and attempted to out hoof the ball which given their back four were 6 footers this was pinged back (as per) and this was how the game progressed. Aaron Lacy was very good at stopping Murphy and seemed to command his area very well (still no goals from his throw-ins thankfully), when we did play it on the deck we looked dangerous especially in the second half. I thought we had more possession than Town but we seemed to overplay the simple passes at times and made interception too easy. My MoM was Long just for his skill and ability to make the ball look like its stuck to his feet. I hope Tuesday night we play the game in a way in which we have come to expect from this bunch of lads as so far they have been awesome IMO. :)

I agree with all that. Would like to add that Whitnell, Murphy & Pooley were poor today.Stubbs wasn't very effective in midfield either. Starkey, and in the first half Long, both on song. Starkey in particular swept up everything at the back & made good telling runs down the right. Holloway in goal made one or two great saves.

Alaile did a fine job in for Ball. Introduction of Dolby helped us up our game a bit and he did good after coming on in the short time that he was given.

Two avoidable goals were given away & Favershams m.o.t.m & probably THE m.o.t.m was Lacey who whilst going in a bit too hard at times gave a very, very good display for the home side.

Draw a fair result but we are 10 times better than that & am expecting to see that 10 times better on Tuesday night. I'm sure we will.

It certainly wasn't good today but hey, we didn't lose even though it looked like we might.

Well I saw it differently, I thought we were poor & poor. In fact the last time MFC played so poorly was against Corinthians. Man of Match was Lacey he was physical, first, determined. I cannot pick out a single MFC player who was on form, at a push I would say Stubbs had an average game, which made him shine above the others. Didn't enjoy game one bit. I am now going for a long soak in a bath, and hope this day soon passes, as the old song goes.....It's a lovely day tomorrow, tomorrow is a lovely day...forget your troubles and learn to say, tomorrow is a lovely day.

Phew !!

still in it jst then.

Not there today,so can't comment specifically-but that seems a very creditable performance to me.

Faversham were always going to make us play' poor'

we narrowly got a draw and thats a decent result-

Faversham are not that far below us in stature and as CK points out elsewhere-have alot of seasoned semi-pro's (not juniors)

more than happy with a draw-particularly after being behind twice.

Much as we all want to-we are not going to win every game-but cup games are vital to win-this years prize money if achieved funds promotion in 2013/14.

if we lose-we're out of the promotion hunt for two seasons

i expect it to be just as difficult on tuesday-and again-there is no rule saying that faversham have to ' allow us to play'

yep-i think thats a cracking result-but only any good if we win tuesday.

Up the 'Gate

Lacey played well, but isnt he a dirty player, my god I dislike him in opposition

Overland and Wayne took the banter well, credit to them for that

Overall we played at their level, where as we played poorly, Faversham played well

Wished we used subs a bit early to change the game

Could it be that faversham's level is actually quite good ?

they are'nt that many bplces below us in the pyramid-and i though at start of season they would be in top 4 of ryman south-slowish start for them in league campaign-but i reckon a top 4 south side-so makes saturday just fine imo-and a tough noight again on tuesday.

would those subs that you wanted on earlier-realistically have made any difference anyway ?

i wonder whether corneille will be fit enough to play in central midfield on tuesday-been doing wel ithought and would make all the difference to giving us a bit more possession and control in middle of the park.

here's hoping

Two of our front players were clearly not having a good day.A little more flair & creativity was required and we had such players sitting there on the bench. Why not use them.

Subs were being warmed up at 2-1 down & ready to enter the fray, then we score to equalise and they are sat down again (as so often happens) albeit not for too long.

Earlier changes might have seen a more positive outcome i.m.o.and even the planned change of personnel when we had equalised for the second time could have been immediate.Taking into account that yesterday was a very hot day too and those players out there would have been feeling quite fatigued.

Sometimes those players out of form on the day are not going to come up with a magical wand & create something after having done little earlier, no matter how long you persist with them. Yes,it happens often I won't deny that but new blood, fresher legs & players with the ability to come on and turn games around was a move I would have made yesterday. We have those type of players on that bench this season.

Hey, but I'm not the manager am I and the above is just my personal opinion anyway..

I think its totally irrespective of how Faversham is rated, all I care about is how Margate play. When we played Crystal Palace we were magnificent, not just in the result but in the performance, same against Bromley, same against Bognor, Lowestoft and some spells during the other league games.

At Faversham we were poor, we did not play well, paint it however you wish, but we know Margate can and will perform a lot better in future games. This is a game that from my point of view was NOT enjoyable, and has to been seen and told as such.

Today is another day..

every team has a 'off day' and true as mentioned Margate can play a lot lot better but look at it this way, we played poor and came away with a draw, still in the cup, a home replay, more revenue.....so not the end of the world......is it !!!!! Chin up guys and girls :D

Unless you regularly watch Ryman South football I don't see how you can feel qualified to offer an opinion either way.
