Town 4 Eastleigh 0

At last Town have been rewarded for their hard work, although the first 20 minutes were a little worrying, as big budget Eastleigh dominated play.

However, once the two Eastleigh defenders had executed a classic sandwich to give away the penalty, the game turned our way. Glen Poole put away his 5th penalty of the season and 10 minutes later Nathan Green forced a defensive error, allowing Marc C Smith to round a defender and slot home his first goal of the season.

By now the heat was taking its toll but Town were playing well, whilst Eastleigh became increasingly disjointed. Chris Wild headed a 3rd on 55m, following good work by Lechmere on the right and the 4th came from a diving Nathan Green header following more good work on the right.

Only downer on the day was a nasty looking injury to Marc C Smith (hope its not as bad as it looked). It was a shame because he had worked hard up front and thoroughly deserved his goal.

Well done Town and well done to the officials, who by and large had a very good game.

Fantastic result for us today - first clean sheet of the season and four goals against one of the league's big spenders.

I thought we dominated the game from start to finish. We had pace, effort and desire but they looked like a collection of individuals not knowing what to do.

We can really take heart from this result and we now have good competition for places in virtually every area of the park. Hopefully we can use this result to get a little sequence together and move into a comfortable position in the league.

Well done lads!! Come on you Blues!!

Terrific result and we really played well. Moving Natahn Green to left midfield seems inspired, he had a great game as did Sam. And it seems to me that Glen Poole is really proving his ability playing at this higher level.

Lets get a few results going and a run in the Cup so that the camera platform on the far side can get used !!!

What an afternoon for us. Great all round performance from the team again! The last 3 games have been great performances without the correct results, but yesterday we got the result as well.

We weathered there first 5 10 minute storm from Bertie brayley fc with dale pulling off two good saves early on. We grew into the game and got our foot on the ball trying to play the passing game, getting the penalty when we did helped us grow in confidence.

It's nice to see us take our chances today, this level is about taking chances when you get them and we have come out Victorius in style!

Best wishes to MC-S with each game he is getting better, it's so unfortunate for him, fingers crossed it not too serious.

Yesterday showed that it doesn't matter what budget you have, you have to have players that want to play for the club and not the pound note.

Keep the momentum going and we are heading in the right direction.

We've been threatening it, but I didn't think we'd take this lot to the cleaners! Greeny impressed again with Swaine and Wild solid at the back, I don't think they lost a header all game. Other than Brightly's double save, I never felt they would score or even looked like scoring. All round superb performance. Now, what happened last Tuesday!?

Very disappointing to read about Marc Charles-Smith's injury. Such a shame as I thought it was Marc's best performance thus far in a Blue shirt. Sadly it was one of a string of very poor challenges from Eastleigh once the game was beyond them.

jl - overall I agree with you but not with this incident. Both players went for the ball and the Eastleigh lad was stooping to head it, which caused MCS to go over him and fall from high onto his arm. The ref was up with play and clearly looking at the clash from about 10 yards. He took no action and neither did the Billericay players react ( as they did a few times on Tuesday night)

Was away at the weekend so gutted to miss what sounds like a great performance. This could be the confidence boost I thought we needed to reach our potential. We are now the second highest scorers in the league, which coming on the same day we get our first clean sheet is very encouraging. Very early days but the signs so far are positive. Well done lads.

PS. Thanks for the highlights
