I would never insult another teams player with those type of insults. The only songs you will hear from us is fun songs and songs about Jersey !

 

I have to say after yesterday that this could not be further from the truth. I have no issue with the songs, and had a good chuckle at them, but to say my weight was never mentioned would be a total utter lie.

Indeed they were, salad dodger and come by the chip were 2 of their faves. I can take the salad dodger banter but because of us accommodating an early kick off for you the chip shop wasn't open on my way there

Usually the bulkier 'keepers are the better ones.

 

You could never say, for example, that Neville Southall and Mark Crossley were the fittest of goalkeepers - yet they were deceptively agile when they played.

I, for one, hope that Guernsey do manage to continue the good start to their life as a club - indeed, if and when, our new ground is ever built I'd be happy to get the first round in for them.

 

However, the league is not won until April/May, and there are still plenty of things that could upset the apple cart. If Ross Allen moves to Swindon, Oxford, Wycombe, Exeter or any of the 30 or so clubs he's been linked with then that could unsettle them. Chessington & Hook could suddenly unearth the next Cristiano Ronaldo, you just never know what is around the corner.

 

Also, if Guernsey's ground is not up to Step 4 requirements, then they won't be promoted. It might be an idea, on a future thread, to list all the clubs and their current gradings to see who can/can't go up.

When Ross Allen has been injured we still score lots of goals. Dom Heaume normally steps up to the plate when Rossco isn't playing so if he did go I'd wish him all the best. We have plenty of other attacking options and we are far from a one man team.

Now I haven't seen Guernsey yet, infact I've only seem Ryman games so far 'cos of certain reasons, but I did see them last season in CCL Div 1 and looked a mile apart from any other team. Now this also seems the case this season with the reports I've read and that does include Camberley game !

 

Whilst I will make up my own mind regarding Guernseys possibile promotion as champions after watching them, I wouldn't like to be you come the end of the season IF Guernsey ground is not done up to the grading by 31 March and that you are not champions, because this lot on here are fearsome, ruthless and don't forget !

 

Yes, enjoy the moment at the top and gloat, but teams want to beat Guernsey as much if not more than any other as Windsor will vouch last season, and we all know what happenened to them. So I'd be a bit careful but the banter is fun, remember people always want to shoot you down when you are at the top. I can assure that someone will find this thread at the end of the season SHOULD Guernsey fail promotion !

Oh I know they won't forget. The say an elephant never forgets and Smudgyboy kind of resembles one and is as old as an old one so should we fail to get promoted or get the ground grading I fully expect the old boy to rear that face only a mother could love ! ;-)

That would have been us, Henry. Fair play for taking it in the spirit it was intended. No harm was meant. Also thought you had a good game and couldn't be blamed for any of the goals (unlike a certain Mr Tardif at the other end). Your save from Zico's free kick in the second half was superb. You're a great club and an extremely nice bunch who made us feel very welcome. Best of luck for the rest of the season.
