No not the Pubs, nearest to a Wetherspoons, that sell very cheap Alcohol.Causing many to close down, but the inhabitants of Guernsey who are unhappy, with the changes that would need to be made to their National Stadium,if Guernsey FC get the go ahead, from the States to enclose it on all 4 sides.Athletes and Rugby players will be up in arms,my source tells me.They were their first attitude is the common theme, not unusual, even Sheerwater have met resistance with their plans from a similar sources. The Track is where most Locals would like them to go,a purpose built Football Ground that has hosted the Muratti Cup in the past. This however would mean a Groundsharing Agreement with The Bels, who already play there. This brings in the question,When do Groundshares have to be in place to seek Promotion?Maybe one of our stattos, could inform us

The bigger question is whether by not getting F Grade at Footes Lane by 31st March can they avoid being relegated, as others have in recent seasons? The rules currently state that groundsharing cannot be used to obtain promotion or avoid relegation, but as VP often points out, the FA are a law until themselves. They could buy the lease at The Track then allow The Bels to groundshare - that would just be deemed a change of ground

"The Track is where most Locals would like them to go"

REALLY???

Is this from your extensive survey around the Island? Not met many that particularly want us to move ground.

I wouldn't be opposed to it BUT it would cost at least as much to upgrade the facilities at the Track to a decent level (to be somewhere near Footes Lane standard) as it would to improve Footes Lane to meet the FA requirements.

The Track could if money was spent on it be turned into a good ground, it has decent space around the pitch and of course is enclosed.

The major downfall with the Track is it's lack of parking. The only parking that can be used is that of the Bowling alley next door which is pretty small and there's very little around near by.

Anyone not from the Island will probably say that it is only a short walk from home/town parking or a short bus trip... unfortunately Guerns are lazy buggars and wouldn't turn out on a regular basis in my view if they had to put in effort to get there.

Really, most I know like Footes Lane, better facilities for the fan certainly.

Muratti is still played there, it did move to Footes Lane but that was not popular.

I believe the players would prefer the surface at The Track. However, if you suddenly doubled the matches being played on it would it stay in good condition for long?

It should be added that Guernsey FC are determind to stay at Footes Lane.

You DO surprise me.

Guernsey used to have a fantastic bus service and it always seemed to be well supported !

When the Muratti is played there is quite a large Police operation put in place to control both supporters and vehicles. 1,000 turning up every week would not be easy in this location.

Surely you should know that Cockney is a reference to a certain part of London, not London as a whole.A bit like St Peter Port, has no s.

Hire cars both here and in Toad land have a "H" plate on them so you can easy identify non local drivers and give them a wide berth, especially at filter-in-turns.

As to whether fans prefer the track or footes labe I would say the old football fans i.e. those who watched football prior to GFC would prefer the track.

The 'newer' fans who have come out ofthe woodwork (and would no doubt return to the woodwork if GFC no longer existed) will prefer the track.

Personally I prefer the track as you can get closer to the action. Stand isn't as good but seems more inclusive than the individual seating of footes lane. The pitch is definitely better at the track although as pointed out this would not necessarily continue with more games there.
