Jeff Trice
Surprisingly today's game will be the first time the clubs have met in a competitive match since 27th April 1959 when Margate won 4-2 in a Kent League match at Salters Lane with goals from Tony Spink (2), Dave O'Callaghan and Peter Peters. Overall there have been a mere 29 competitive games between the clubs since the first one on 5th February 1910. Margate have won 19, drawn 3 and lost 7. Of those defeats 4 took place before World War I including Margate's all-time record loss - a 12-0 thrashing on 25th February 1911. Margate have only lost 1 of the last 19 meetings, scoring 79 goals (averaging over 4 a game) and letting in 24. There's only ever been 1 previous FA Cup tie between the clubs which took place on 3rd September 1949. Faversham won that 3-1 and Margate's goal was scored by Phil Bibby. michael
reaaly really tough one today for all sorts of reasons. praying we come through it with a win. i wonder how many unecessary free kicks we will give away on edge of box inviting WW to show what he can do-or thow ins in our own half? we need possession today to ensure their weapons of mass destruction-long throws and free kicks do not end our dreams.
