obis
.... the main area for improvement in the team if you don't mind an opinion appears to be in midfield. They are not creating on opportunities for the front two, sitting too deep and not really assisting the defence. I believe given the chances Touhy will get goals, no question. Lewis hangs onto the ball far too long and plays to deep encroaching into midfield territory. I'm sure Jimmy is fully aware of this and is looking specifically in this area to improve. It is a hugely difficult task, which he will sort out I feel. There is always an adjustment needed when you go up a level. Just hope we don't struggle for too long as I can see us losing a couple of our better players. Keep the faith, it will turn around. Better than being in the Ryman. Hornchurch "O"
Think performances (Yesterday excepted) have been OK. Still trying to work out our formation with McKenzie, Smith and Touhy. Seem to lack width.
kimbles left foot
I think we are crying out for an attacking CM - we don't seem to have that player who will have a 'go' at goal. The times we broke through last night there wasn't anyone in the box to cross - we don't seem to be attacking as a unit like we used to. Lets get back on track Saturday
cup of tea
I agree with Kimble - It has looked to me that Frankie Curley has been trying to venture forward a bit more - It just hasn't looked as though he's had much of an opportunity to do so. I know I'm going to get slated for this but what about playing Lewis Smith in midfield? I think he's got a great range of passing and obviously likes going forward. Perhaps playing as a forward, he feels he has to do all the running to get into a goalscoring position - it might help him if someone else can help take a bit of that workload off him. I would just like to add that I will never know as much about football as Jimmy McFarlane and this is only a fan's opinion. I would also like to point out that it is still very early in the season and I'm sure the league won't end up as it is now. There's no way you can start to make conclusions after only a few games. SEVEN TEARS BOY
Simon, you're suggesting a Scholes-like move for Lewis (and we do have our Keane(s) in Frankie and Elliot when he plays CM) Of course Lewis has more stamina (and pace) than Scholes ever did, so why not? (Though do we have the options to replace him up front?)

Wivenhoe Urchin
I find it hilarious the number of times I read a thread on our forum and it finishes by discussing Scholes, Giggs or some other overpaid footballer playing for a top club Anyway, I think the main thing Hornchurch need to do now is to continue trying to compete with every team we play and the first win will come. I must say I was disappointed with the result against Weston (and I think Jimmy overheard me which I didn't intend), but after enjoying the first few games in this conference south season despite the results against some of the better teams in the league, we have then played teams that would be more likely to finish mid table or below and we have not played so well, resulting in not getting a much needed win. The one thing that concerns me most at the moment though is games played at our home ground and the fact that we struggle to create the atmosphere with limited vocal support that will encourage the team to beat sides that are perhaps not in the greatest of form, like Weston. Those are the games we surely need to win to put us clear of a relegation battle.
