Bognor v Margate Updates

Long was injured-did'nt look too serious though thank goodness-as like many-i think he is outstanding

I thought bodkin did well-i increasingly think his best role is going to be in central midfield.

I thought it helped when he came on-it all became a bit calmer and controlled-and he was the one player to put his foot on the ball, slow it down a bit and play the simple ball, which he did very well.

I appreciate that the 'game plan' is to play it all a bit faster this season-but sometimes you do need to play less frenetically and keep possession a bit more-Bodkins helped achieve that in the last 20 minutes i thought

I thought we played well all game, I dont think the rocks outplayed us at all (like some are saying) they had 4 or 5 good chances due to shooting early and effectively, however they never dominated us, second half we were very good though, counter attack football at its very best, the score however could of been 5-3 to us, we missed at least 3 one on one chances and they hit the bar 3 times. Another great away win, it 'feels' like it did 10 years ago :)

I think we need to give a bit of credit to CK. He could see, in the first half, Bognor's main threat was to push the full backs on, particularly the right back, and launch the ball out to him. Rhodes was quite advanced at times, meaning we were far too often left 2-on-1 down that flank. He brought Dolby on for Rhodes at half time, dropping Murphy back onto the left side. He tracked their full-back admirably and, once that avenue of attack was cut off, they were rather limited in their play.

Admittedly, first half we did ride our luck at times, but then all the top teams do. We took our chances, could have scored more, and - on the whole - were very disciplined not to crumble under some intense pressure. Cracking result - I've no doubt Bognor will be top 10 or so come the end of the season
