Performance was SO much better, A newly promoted team against one relegated.............. could have gone either way

shame our forwards don't know that the little round thing is supposed to be hit at the space between the sticks!!

The HRBFC supporters could not believe we didn't score and thought that their lucky voodoo continues; personal I agree with gary Player; the more you practice the more of your own luck you create

COME ON TOWNERS!

"Its goals that win games"

I felt that our midfield was totally ineffective. We have not got a ball winner in the middle who can get the ball and distribute it where it will have most effect.

I was reminded last night of the players who have performed that function for us in the past, Bradley Brotherton, Rudi, John Moore even Andy Jones. Now Bryan can do that but he is getting on. Neil Johnston may do that in the future but he is too lightweight now.

I was surprised at how poor Hampton were. There number 15 sub lifted them until then they weren't in it. We had far more chances and should have put them away.

Still early days and no need to panic yet.

Agree 100%

Lightweight Midfield - no ball winner - no decent passer of the ball.

Up-front - just not effective enough. - Why was Liam so, so deep all game ?

When chances did fall he was nowhere to be seem.

Unfortunately, there are a few players that are not ready for this level and there seems little point waiting until we have played 10 game to confirm that fact.

Current midfield need sat least two additions, plus a goalscorer to play alongside Liam.

Why is it that Osei can only produce one "run" all game - he beat 4 defenders and almost scored - but so often it is once a game.

Overall, general performance better than the Whitehawk game, BUT it was clear for all to see - Hampton took their chances, Town did not.

Let's hope for a decent performance in the Cup next week.

I looked at the league table this morning, we are 11th after 5 games and should have got at least a point against the league leaders yesterday. Season's started very admirably and we have a platform to build on for the rest of the season.

We can all look forward to the FA Cup this Saturday hoping we have a good run and bring in some much needed revenue in the form of prize money and of course raising our profile a little more.

My glass is very much Half Full, things are ok, footfall could be better but we must be in the top 6 for best average gates. It Is still very much exciting times for the ETFC fan's, players, management and coaches. I think we should just enjoy the ride as we are more than capable in having a good season.

Agree with all of the above. We'll play much worse than yesterday and win - in fact we did just that against Wingate. Some really good simple passing football yesterday, and we didn't look out of place against the league leaders by any means.

Thought Osei was very good with his link up play, and he was a big threat to them coming in off the left wing. Thought when he went off we looked a bit devoid of anything up front. Agree with the point about Hope, it looked like he was playing wide right towards the end of the game, even at times dropping way back to challenge in midfield. We need him in the penalty box, not wide or just in front of our own defence.

A bit more steel in midfield just to make us harder to beat is all we need at the moment. Encouraged where we sit in the table as there are far worse sides than us. Onwards and upwards with the cup to look forward to.

Come on the Towners!

I agree with O/T Thats a fair analysis . We were just out muscled in every department and they ground us down in the end , but there was a slight improvement from last week .

Shooting practice next saturday and will be a a 3-0 + formality or at least thats what the script should say .

Mentioning the midfield...don't forget Gunz is out injured who does alot of the link-up play in midfield/attack and Michael Ewang usually plays in midfield but dropped back yesterday to fill in for Kendall/Gio. I thought Ewang had a decent game and didn't look out of place at all..

Looking at the replay I think Mitch was rather harshly sent off... He did bring his leg over (ha ha!!) but it doesn't look like he was reckless and it was just accidental that his book collided with the Hampton player's face/head??? It's on the video at 7mins 5secs with a couple of replays..

After St Mags in the cup we have a really tough trip to Margate who won again yesterday at Bognor Regis Town..

Hmmm, some interesting posts in recent days!

With regards midfield, I agree to an extent that we are missing something in there. As Mr Cold End puts it, we were missing Ewang from the CM on Saturday who normally gives us that ball winner in midfield and I thought Johnstone (apart from his finishing) had a decent game. Steph - Bryan is a ball winning centre midfielder???!!

With regards the chances, unfortunately they didnt fall to the right people. Had it been Osei or Hope in front of goal we could be talking about a different scoreline but we should take heart from the chances created and the way we played at times against a top of the table and recently BSS side.

Perhaps we could be a bit more positive in our passing at the moment and that might be why some of our players are playing deeper than usual? I think we are missing Wallace alongside Hope at the minute but I dont think its all doom and gloom. We had chances on Saturday and the ball didnt quite drop for us. Saturday should give the side a chance to gel further and get some confidence going into a really difficult game against Margate. I am concerned at the amount of injuries we seem to be picking up though.

Everyone is very quick to jump on the side, we are only just out of August! I would be interested to hear who everyone thinks Steve should go out and sign?

I am sorry cold end.

It happened right in front of me at the time.

I do not think that Mitch intended to kick the number 3 in the face but at the least it was dangerous play. Mitch had his back to the defender and LASHED out with his boot. I saw it as the lino did. Definite sending off it was worse than Beckham's petulance in the World Cup six years ago!

Steph-Have i missed something??? Well the answer to that is probably yes however and I'm shamed to correct you but Beckham's sending off was 14 years ago, time flies.....................................
