The Mayor Of Simpleton
Saw the following on NLM and felt it deserved a re-tweet here: Thamesmead Town are delighted to have been asked to host a challenge match against a team from HMS Ocean. This will take place next Wednesday, 5th September 2012 at Bayliss Avenue in South East London with a 1945 kick off and funds being raised for the 'Help the Hero's' charity. HMS Ocean has been moored at Greenwich for the duration of the Olympics and ParaOlympics providing security cover and I have seen their Apache helicopter flying around quite often. This is a great chance to thank the military of all services for their support with a successful Olympic period, and also the volunteers who have assisted the smooth running of the games. It could also help the Mead who are struggling financially, and we hope for a good turn out and that could raise some funds through the bar. It would be great to see a large crowd for this game to raise some serious money for the charity. Colin. www.thamesmeadtownfc.co.uk and also on Pitchero, look for Thamesmead.
