Very impressive performance by Windsor in beating Croydon 6-0. Or was it? Not completely sure as Croydon were content to give the ball back to Windsor at every opportunity. Poorest team I've seen for a while to be honest.

Ben Harris might lack a little in front of goal (experience I guess) but with the ball at his feet running at the defence he is as good as any front man I've seen at Stag Meadow in the last 4 years. Better than O'Toole and Chennells in that regard. A real handful and Croydon couldn't deal with him so resorted to hacking him down at every opportunity (not maliciously imo, they just couldn't deal with him).

The improvement in him in the last year is amazing.

We seem to be a bit Jekyll & Hyde at the moment! Sure as hell not going to finish above anyone on goal difference this season!

Just for Redders!....

Spelthorne 3 v 4 Eversley & California

A truly thrilling game for the neutral…. albeit heart stopping for those involved with both sides!

After just two minutes and twenty blinks it was 1 all. Baker after 18 seconds and a home reply moments later-both goals one on ones.

After some soul searching before the game though this was a bounce back performance from the Boars after such a poor bank holiday Monday showing. Taking on previously unbeaten Spelthorne proved to be the perfect hangover cure with the knowledge that nothing other than A games from each and every player would suffice.

(…..As a side line I just have to say that the Woking area seems to be a very jealous one and some seriously unpleasant tweets and texts had come our players and management’s way since losing to Sheerwater the previous Monday. I`m sure our members will keep their own counsel but as an Eversley stalwart for a few years I find that mentality very strange. They say he who laughs lasts and all that!….. )

…Anyway back to the game.

What started as an end to end game continued in the same vain, chances to both sides, averted by a mixture of last ditch defending, saves by both keepers, and perhaps less than top quality finishing meant the score could have been 5 all at half time. Eversley just about edged it but a Hamilton sliding finish and a home side tap in from a spilled cross kept the scores even at 2-2 at the break.

The second half started completely the reverse to the first with Spelthorne moving the ball better and with more width. 55 minutes and a worldy from their new boy (on loan from H & R) from 25 yards saw the home side take the lead for the first time.

Eversley ‘s lack of width was rectified with Fox moved wider and immediately Spelthorne found less space and started to get caught in possession. Nathan Stamp at full back found more attacking space and his stand up cross on 60 minutes was met perfectly by Neil Williams at the far post, 3-3.

Just as it looked as though as though the visitors would march to a narrow victory the referee Brian Fish (funnily enough the referee for last year’s away Guernsey game) took umbrage at the normally genial Peter Millington –Lee’s protestations; somehow magicing a doubtful yellow card, for a rather innocuous free kick close to the half way touchline, into a straight red that would have even left 'Dynamo' fans in disbelief. Eversley down to 10 men and an eager Spelthorne went for the jugular. For the next 15 minutes it was all the home side and only a couple of outstanding Shelley saves, coupled with two goal line clearances kept the scores level. At the other end the visitors were always a threat with Baker somehow getting ruled against after the home keeper had bundled him over for what appeared a blatant penalty... but these forages were becoming rarer as the game progressed.

Had they remained patient Spelthorne then they surely would have one the game but too their credit Eversley responded to the challenge and the spirit that had been previously been called in to question. Spelthorne started to look longer, trying to force a winner and this allowed Eversley to stay in the game and hold out for what they hoped would be an unlikely point.

With moments left Matt Baker had other ideas collecting the ball on the halfway line and driving diagonally 30 yards taking 4 Spelthorne players with him before setting Williams to cross and find Hamilton whose sublime chest and finish won the game.

So far for Eversleythis season it has been Hyde one week and Jeckyll the next… let’s hope I can report on Mr Hyde again next week!

Was lucky enough to be at the game, and have to agree. What a spectacle for the Combined Counties. Two teams who went hammer and tong for 90 plus minutes, with some corking goals to boot.

Match report above spot on.....Spelthorne mugged themselves off for the first getting beaten by a long (and I mean long, the keeper for Eversley had a rocket in his boot), but still an impressive chip from Baxter. Spelthorne replied immediately, with a neat move that put their striker through to slot home....amybe early nerves from both teams.

Eversley grew into the game, and their endevour in the middle was admirable, and with two powerful quick strikers they are always going to be a dangerous outfit. They deserved their second goal, and were on top, until spelthorne produced a decent passing move that resulted in Spelthorne winger shooting across keeper which was parried into the path of (I believe was new signing Paul Johnson??).

Second half Spekthorne seemed to be more determined, and the game was a more even affair. After 15 minutes Spekthorne began to dominate proceedings and with no supply from the midfield, the Eversley striker were virtually redundant. Que Paul Johnson....screamer from fully 25 yards, but was it a cross? He seemed to celebrate like he meant it........this goal then saw Spelthornme turn the heat up, but were caught out against the run of play by a deep cross that was nodded in far sticks to level the game again. Spelthorne were then very very lucky to have Eversley reduced to 10 men. What the Eversley centre back said must have been pretty bad to see him get a straight red. That said, Spelthroen exploited the space, but couldnt break down the strong Eversley back line. Then there came two penalty shouts...one for both sides, Spelly had a man hit late in the box, but the referee gave a corner, then a tangle between Spelthorne keeper and Eversley striker resulted in a free kick to Spelthorne. The interesting part here was the ref who was 30 yards away looked like giving a penalty, but the linesman who was 10 yards away over ruled him and advised it was the opposite way.

Any how, classic counter attack saw Eversley take the points, as from a Spelthorne corner, Eversley broke, and scored a nice little goal to send their players and bench into raptures, which just proved how much this game emant to both teams, as at the final whistle many Spelthorne players were reduced to their knees in disbelief/heart ache.

Only semi sour note was a few comments after the game from Eversly players saying thanks for the 3 points, which could be heard from the stands so not said discreetly. After such an epic game handshakes were the perfect answer to 22 tired men, not silly comments that were not needed.

Both teams if they play like this every week will be there or there abouts at the end of the season.

Apologies for keeping you waiting Matthew, I am sure you have been sitting by your computer for the last 24 hours whilst waiting for my appraisal. I have been spending time with my loved ones.

I have to doth my cap and admit that was far and away the best game I have seen you play, my motivational tactics clearly worked, or perhaps it was playing at centre half rather than full back where I have seen you exposed.

That being said surely you went away from the game disappointed with your overall contribution to the game? Not only did you give the foul away from which the first goal directly came but the forward also got the second one from near the centre of the box which presumablly you or your brother (who by the way is a decent player, probably cheating a bit at the level) should have been covering when he had time to turn and pick his spot. A good performance means nothing if you make crutial errors that cost your side.

Further more you were lucky to still be on the pitch after the first half hour, you seemed far too keen to engage in hand bags with the Ash 9 (who could have probably gone with you) and other petulant off the ball incidents.

Anyway, decent game from you, pity you've had such a direct impact on Knaphill's early exit from this year's game

So you go to clear a ball and get nudged off the ball so you miss it and swing an air shot, foul is given against you for 'wild swinging'?? Was getting a yellow for swearing at the ref (and not the worst of words) after that that I did not use one swear word! Afterwards the ref explained I got a straight red for the original one? Yes I should of kept stum but telling me 'I can smile all the way to the changing rooms' as he held the card up probably suggests that it was for smiling at him, sums this particular chap up. Like the other posters on here and I'm sure every other ref thats have done our games will say the same that I never stop laughing and joking with them. Best thing was watching from the sides and hearing what was being said to him from their side? As much as this is starting to turn into a moan it spoiled Spelthorne's game at times too. Rant over!! Goodnight x

Milf hunter I actually haven't been sitting on here waiting for youre reply! Fair comments about the first goal I did indeed give the free kick away and yes the player was not going anywhere!!! The second goal was nothing to do with me at all! Apart from that one foul and the off the ball antics with no.9 I think I had a very good game as I have been told by several people! I still think your comment regarding me as an horrific player was no way to explain me as a footballer! Anyway that's dead and buried now! I'm over it! Lool thanks for the reply
