Dream Over/FA Cup - Wembley exit

Smudge

Back to reality for Wembley now, their Superstar's now all departed. You have got to feel sorry for the Regular Wembley Players though,as their Celebrity Players/Management were like Green Bottles, one by one they fell by the wayside.Claudio Cannigia was the only one to come out of this with his reputation in tact, the rest were mercenaries.I bet Batesy was pulling his hair out, after last nights game, when the tactical changes were made late on.by his technical advisors.Which exposed his Keeper to having very little chance of saving any Goals.Still good exposure for D.Atkins and the young Uxbridge player who scored 2 last night, decent Players.

To be fair Smudge, take Canniga out the side last night, and it was the Wembley side surely?? so they all got the chance to shine in front of the cameras, and on the day Uxbridge were more clinical (and what you would probably expect), the beauty with the FA Cup is 7 subs so i am sure all who would have been involved for a league game would have been involved last night, so all got a taste of teh atmsphere, cameras etc.

I am sure most of the pro's that have come in have had a positive effect on the players, and yes players might have been disappointed not to play against Langford (where i think 4/5 pro's played) but in the other 2 games there was only 2 and 1.

I think it has given some much needed coverage to the lower leagues, and hopefully ESPN/Budweiser will take on the mantle of filming a live game like the Road to Wembley (i.e following Uxbridge until they go out etc).

If they don't then it is all rather poor, but try telling that to the lads who have probably had the best 3 or 4 days of their footballing careers.

I have to say i think Keown, Canigga and Seamen came out with credit, the others not so much.

I think that's a ridiculous way of looking at it. Why would you feel sorry for them?

It was a bit of a daft stunt in the 1st place but I'd be surprised if the Wembley players didn't have a great time mixing and presumably training with and learning from the top ex-pros, however far past it, and undeserving of a place in the team they may have been.

Well we're out and some will be happy at our failure and some will think we were unlucky.

I feel hard done by as at uxbridge we had 2 ex pros but the rest were all Wembley boys, for 70 mins in the 1st game we gave uxbridge what for and defended their high ball tactics well.I'm gutted with the free kick because I stepped to my right trying to get a view of the ball and still got a hand to it.

The replay saw uxbridge go with different tactics(I was told they changed their tactics cos I held everything fired in, I'll take that as a compliment) and we containedvthem for 60/70 mins not bad considering they're a level and we only Had a 45 yr legend playing.

As for the advert for combined counties football I don't think it was too bad over the 2 games and hopefully it will some local fans to our grounds if their 1st choice team are away.

The experience of playing on tv and in front of crowds of 700/800 fans has been excellent, just a shame it's been so short.

To those ccl sides still in the face cup good luck.

I will speak for a lot of people and say ' I'm glad'

Nothing against wembley, if I was a loyal wembley player getting dropped every other week for a past it overaged ex pro I would be going mental. Good luck in the league though pearcey

fair play to pearcey for embracing it, and telling us about it here. thanks for that.

I was interested to know what difference dropping 5/6 ex pros into a CCL side would do alongside international standard coaching.

Seemed to me in the first home game it gave Wembley good shape and allowed Wembleys better players to thrive.

Parlour showed you have to be reasonably fit or your in the way after ten minutes.

The biggest disapointment for me was that in the end it wasnt properly tried, as with many new ideas.

Having five reasonably fit ex pros in each fa cup game would probably have got Wembley further.

Keeping the original Wembley side would probably still have won the first game, and may well have beating Uxbridge away on the day.

I just feel it wasnt tried properly, and weve learned nothing.

Will Budweiser be happy with 3 games? Will it now go back to normal at Wembley FC?

Will it start again next August?
