Hard to find a review of last nights match yet, but I see from the Wembley website that on Saturday only 3 "stars" bothered to turn up for the game. Cannigia and Ehiogu played, whilst Keown was on the bench.

What happened to all of the others - Parlour, McBride, etc. What a joke the whole thing was. Typical Venables - let's get some publicity but have no substance in the thing at all.

It's one thing appearing in a publicity photo in July but quite another when you actually have to turn up and play. Let us hope that Budweiser and ESPN see through this whole pathetic episode and that we never see its like again.

But you can't blame Wembley for getting involved in all this. More people thru the turnstiles, on live tv and their twitter account has 1,500 followers.

If you look at the 'my first match' thread it is often the bigger games where people got hooked on supporting Slough. Hopefully Wembley will pick up a few more regular fans because of this.

Rebel Yeller, it would help if your comments were actually based on facts not urban myths. The whole idea of Venables and the ex-pros was thought up by Budweiser not the club ! My own opinion is that Budweiser have devalued the FA Cup and its' traditions but what more can you expect from an American brewery. Having said that, any non-league club would have jumped at the chance Wembley have been given as it's not just the cup but money has been put into the club through a two-year sponsorship and upgrading facilities at the ground although I think it is morally wrong that the main sponsors of the FA Cup should sponsor any club at any level as I believe it's a conflict of interests.
