I think whatever system is put in place there will always be some teams that lose out geographically. The Blue Square South has relatively little travelling apart from obviously Truro and a few others in the south west. With the exception of the south western clubs it has a rather Ryman league feel to it geographically but the Blue Square North on the other hand is a bit messed up. It's not too far off a national league! It seems to cover all of the Northern League area, large parts of the Southern League and now even parts of the Ryman League! I'm sure when they created the new step 2 of the non league pyramid they weren't expecting the Northern section to drop so far south but there you go!

That was the problem, they were dealing with clubs already at the level not from scratch so split was always going to be uneven. You then can't legislate for who gets relegated and promoted.

 

I know a couple of Hemel supporters who prefer the southern even though mileage is worse than ryman, because they dont have to navigate the M25 regularly.
