I have been following this forum for some time but don't post much but am compelled on this occaision to point out that last season Guernsey's first six games away from home the attendances were:

Hartley Wintney - 240

Eversley - 127

Frimley Green - 136

Cobham - 155

CB Hounslow - 9

Spelthorne Sports - 12

Average attendance - 141

So far this season average gate for first 3 games is 130 however, if the Horley Town game had gone ahead on Monday and the gate had been 240 as it was for the friendly between the 2 teams last season the average attendance for the first 4 games would have been 157.

Bubble Burst is yours not Guernsey's!!!

They will always have a strong following no matter what..

i dont think the bubbles burst. i think the longer the season goes on and if they're doing well, more people will start going to the games. also there are a lot more games this season.

Lettuce, should check your facts better before posting.

Hartley Wintney 240

Eversley 137

Frimley Green 136

Cobham 155

C..B.Hounslow 90

Westfield 325

Were the first 6 games played by Guernsey in the CCL 1,Which averages out at 180

The first 3 games last year averaged out at 171,compared to this years 130,a loss of 41 Fans per game, even though they are playing at a higher level.

So the Bubble has burst,no doubt due to GFCTV's invention.

And you have to remember that the reported attendance figures represent ALL those in the ground ie including home/away/league/county officials & others that would not have paid for entry. So trying to equate attendance with gate money is difficult. But do agree that the reported numbers do often appear very 'generous'. No names, no packdrill - but regular readers will recall one club whose reported attendance was always 120-ish, even on a cold January night when just a handful of hardy supporters were to be seen. Always made me wonder how clubs could ever explain this away if received an HMRC audit.

I doubt that GFCTV has even scratched the surface of this issue. If any 'bubble' has burst then it can be put down to the points raised in this thread (ie holiday season, not a new scenario, more games, results too big)

Guernsey's home crowds up to now this season are an average of 940 where as last year over the first 3 home games was 1507 and this drop of a basic third is more alarming and in my opinion down to the fact that the Guernsey crowd want to watch a competition

there isnt one team in guildford one team in windsor one team in bedfont every county, village or town has alot more clubs in it vying for footballers to play at any standard theres no way 65000 or even close to that figure to choose from in our vacinity theres us bedfont sports next door feltham 15 minutes drive cb hounslow 10 minutes drive ashford town middlx 15 minutes drive staines town , chertsey town, egham town, an i could go on an on (ariston) ;)

fitness wise ive been told guernsey train 5 times a week this may be wrong i dont know but at best we train twice therefore your fitness will be head an shoulders above every other team regarding the comment on the div 1 player it was frustrating for me as we at bedfont would of won the league had you not been in it an on a personal note i would of won it with another team that said im not complaining ive said all along your a breath of fresh air!!! regarding sponsors is the same scenario about players!!!

It is my understanding that the GFC squad trains twice a week (assuming no fixture to be played) on Tuesday and Thursday evenings....plus individual players will go to the gym as and when necessary to concentrate on what they need as an individual to get match fit I guess

Like you, Guernsey Guru, I would agree that the home gate has been disappointing so far this season (when compared to that of last season) and I would add another factor for the decline and that is second season syndrome allied possibly to the increase in season ticket prices (that do not include Cup games....and the Feltham game was a possible example of this when only 685 turned up). I would suspect that we are seeing a natural levelling out and the emergence of a hard core that will go to the game irrespective of whatever other 'attractions' may be available be that the hill climb, Rocquaine Regatta, beach etc. Let's wait to see what September brings and the home games on 15 and 22 September when the holiday season will be over. When all is said and done were the home crowd to level out somewehre around 800-900 I would guess this would still be above the projections of the clubs custodians when they established the club 18 months or so ago.

Rubbish Smudge, when are going to understand that £2 is not going to stop the Guernsey crowd from attending but uncompetitive football just might

No problem with me, Adam.

I have known TSF, (Jeff) for a long time now ! We often enjoy a pint or three together, putting the world to rights, and Free Speech IS Free Speech.

Incidently, he helped out on Saturday at the match against Guernsey. Doesn't stop him from saying what he thinks !

season tickets never included freindlies but did include cup games, and guru i think the price increase has put some off i have heard alot of people around us complain about it and saying they wont pay for cup games as what they have paid is over the top! however i do also know people who where not sure about the whole gfc idea but came to games last season to see what it was all about, and once seeing the ease at which guernsey won decided it wasnt for them and havent returned this season.

My point about the £2 is that nobody would really have an issue with it if as you say Guernsey were not winning with such ease. My guess is that when we play Windsor the £2 will not be an issue as we should face some real competiton. Even this weekends away game at Crowborough will see the return of many of the travelling faithfull as Guernsey enter something new and another venture into the unknown which could be a real banana skin. In my opinion the week in week out crowds at games in the CCL will continue to dwindle, as sad and as strange as that might seem, even with Guernsey winning

I don't see the ticket price for sitting being a big deal, isn't the stand all but sold out? Paying extra for cup matches I can see season tiket holders having a genuine grievance.

I think the biggest factors are non-club specific. Loads else on and the Olympics hangover - it just doesn't feel like the football season yet.

Reality check for Guernsey, Camberley 1 Guernsey 0 played against what is considered by many a local to be a fairly poor Camberley squad but they certainly held their own and deserved the win, if the likes of Windsor, Badshot, Molesey, Hanworth, etc. show the same commitment and will to win on the day then it could be quite an interesting season.

I have been to all of the home matches with the exception of the one against the jersey jocks as I was outif the island. The £2 increase is fine with me, but I know of a number of people who did not attend the friendly matches and the cup game as it was to covered by their season ticket. The reduced number at the cup game was also down to the fact that the club could not include season ticket holders who were not present in their attendances figure.
