Team v Beaconsfield

Too many players had bad days at the office today. Just as well SYCOB were so poor otherwise we would have been stuffed by a half decent team. Could not hear any leadership on the pitch today. If it is our aim to get out of the league this year, up would be preferable to down please!

Everytime Beaconsfield play Slough they are the underdogs, yet if Slough dont win its because the Slough team have had a bad day. Nothing is ever said about the way the Beaconsfield team up their game and at times defend for their lifes. I was at yesterdays game, and Beaconsfield had the better of the first half, Slough were poor and offered nothing, Beaconsfield played by far the better football, all Slough could do was hoof it in to the box. Just after half time Beaconsfield had a player sent off and from the resulting penalty Slough equalised, that raised their game for about five minutes, then it was the same Slough from the first half, rushing their passing and running out of ideas in midfield. Iv'e seen many posters on here complaining about Slough's forwards, I think they have got a point, they look very comfortable at Slough and have become complacent and have become stale!

Aswell as the forwards, the whole team suffers from a lack of pace and youthfull enthusiasm, the team seems to have been together far too long being runners up the past three seasons, things need to change. A team as big as Slough with a big budget, great crowd and huge resources at this level should be doing much much better. It seems too many Slough players are happy to sit back and take the money, the fans deserve more than that

I've no worries about our goalkeeper and our 3 centre backs - easily the best in the league in my opinion, but in midfield looking at our options it's all too similar for

How can you say you have the best three centre backs in the league after todays game, your defence is so slow and immobile, they were torn apart today for our goal. At best you can say your defence are stoppers none of them can put their foot on the ball, all they do is hoof it out.

I think Slough should take notice of the way Beaconsfield play, they show a lot of heart and commitment two things Slough lack, they also had pace and stayed disciplined and organised when down to ten men looking like they might be the team to score the winner in the second half. Next time the two teams meet maybe little old Beaconsfield might not be the underdogs, maybe the once mighty Slough might take up that mantle.

TEN MEN, WEVE ONLY GOT TEN MEN !

Why can't I?

I've seen enough football in this league over the past few years in this league to make my own judgement. Until the end of last season after the St Neots game when we hit the self destruct button we had a superb goals against record - the best in the league at that time and our team was built on our defence, which are centre backs are part of.

Added to the fact we never conceded a goal home or away to St Neots who were smashing goals for fun with Tolley, Mackey and Moore last season. Those 'slow and immobile' centre backs were part of a team last season who conceded 13 less goals than SYCOB last season and I can't see any reason for us conceding loads this season with these same 3 (one of which wasn't at the SYCOB game).

Also for how bad we were did you create chance-after-chance?

Also they are centre backs. I don't expect them to put their foot on the ball, beat 8 players and play a pint-point crossfield ball onto Danny Burnell's toe. Their primary job is to defend as centre backs and that's what I judge them on - defending. The midfield should be getting the balls off the centre backs and playing the passes I just want them to defend!

Older Ram is right - Beaconsfield out played Slough!!!!

Slough have probably got the highest budget in the league - are some of the players only there for that?

Byron has a smaller budget (sponsored by Slough Town) but he was on his players backs and got them to perform.

It all comes back to one man every time - the one who has failed on 3 occasions to gain promotion and looks like he is going the same way this season.

For those who say it is early in the season and he should be measured after 12 games, well what is the measure that we should judge him by after 12 league games? in the top 5 places?

Dave Woozley is probably one of the most skilful central defenders we've had in a long while so to suggest he can only hoof it long is a bit silly. I wouldn't swap him for any defender in this division.

As for the front two I still say criticism of them is wrong. It's like blaming the goalkeeper in isolation for any goals we concede. It doesn't matter whether we have two shorter strikers like Sean/Danny, one big and one small or two like Peter Crouch. One thing is constant........if they get no service they won't score irrespective of how good/bad/tall/short/thin/fat they are.

PS.....Sue......I was trying to miss ;)

NBH and Dave Woozley are definitely among the best centre halves in the division.I don't agree Alex Brown is,however he is a character, has gumption and tries his best and his size is an asset. He has been a very good signing and is worth a place in the team most games and you can't help but like his enthusiasm and rousing battle cries/words of wisdom !

Had we kept Simon Sweeney,I may have agreed that we had the three best centre halves,as Simon was as good a centre half as he was right back.Definitely think we're miss his defensive qualities.

Our attacking problems seem to lie in not having the catalyst to make something happen with the spark of invention like a Jerome Anderson or even Steve Sinclair could [given a chance].I'm surprised we haven't used Dominic Rhone on the left wing yet,as surely his natural pace would cause problems.Against SYCOB he was wasted at left back and he's having a hard time at the moment settling into what Steve and Fred are asking of him.

I think our season is far from over after just 3 league games and 1 cup match but we do need a big improvement sooner rather than later,if we are to be automatic champions.
