Eastbourne 2 Ricay 1

Disappointing result today. Kick-off delayed after massive travel problems for team bus and supporters alike (unless you had a top detour navigator of course) The team bus arrived at about two minutes to three and we were made to ko at 3 15 which I thought was a bit harsh.

Eastbourne weren't a patch on Hayes and it was a pretty even game with few clear cut chances. Eastbourne scored after about a half hour and we equalised with another Poole penalty just after half time when Lechmere was clipped.

It looked like a draw nailed on after that as both sides struggled to create anything but with 15 to go another defensive error gifted Eastbourne a goal. I'Anson side-footed over when well placed with a couple of minutes left and that was curtains for us.

Think we'll be more disappointed with this than Tuesday as we could and should have got something. Hopefully we can get back to winning ways on Monday against The Urchins.

Decent effort from the fans considering the distance and shocking traffic.

Come on you Blues!!

Not a great game - spoiled by difficult weather conditions, with neither side coping very well with the end-to-end wind. Eastbourne were short of the excellent standard they had reached in midweek but still had the better of the game overall, clinching the points with two outstanding goals. They really should have gone in at half time three up, but Adameno failed to put away two cracking chances. The Blues were always a threat at set-pieces, unsurprisingly given the number of big players in their line-up. Billericay scored with a penalty, cheaply conceded but perfectly correctly given. In the final minutes Eastbourne were wobbling and Billericay really gave it everything: L'Anson got on the end of Moore's cross but hammered his shot high. Just about a fair result but mighty close.

On this evidence, and from what I gather of the two previous games, Billericay certainly won't struggle. Best of luck for the season.

Sorry about your travel problems, which cannot have helped your performance. By the way, I think you'll find the team coach arrived at 2.45 - the referee had actually sent a message to ask how long your guys would need once they had arrived, and the request back was 30 minutes, which he honoured.

Disappointed not to have taken a point. If only I'Anson buried his chance at the end...

Reynolds looked good at the back (MOTM for me) whilst Charles-Smith looked good when he came on. We're moving in the right direction. Could do with a 650+ attendance tomorrow.
