Croydon 2-0 Bedfont Sports

Good performance by the Trams at the Arena, although Bedfont had their chances to make a game of it. Always felt Croydon were comfortable though. Pinney got the goals in the first half and Trams even managed to survive the dismissal of James Cecil midway through the second half. The incident was almost a carbon copy of the Michael Buck foul in the Cove v Farnham game, where he was only yellow carded. Today's ref didn't hesitate to flash the red.

Fair words though i wasnt impressed at all with croydon they broke up our play but our ball retention was poor today an the first goal was the easiest weve conceded was like moses walking on water lol

We didnt take advantage of the extra man an got what we deserved nothing we need to learn quick else i can see losnig becoming a habit im not sure wbat our problem is as the teams ive seen us play last season we would of beaten maybe a new striker is needed

Lancing 0-1 South Park

Superb performance from us today, from the front back to Wazza in goal. Very proud of everyone and the effort put in. Stand out players for me were Jack Higgins (higgs1), who marked their number 10 out the game (who we were told was their danger man). Also Steve Wilson who partnered me in the middle of defence, solid for 90 minutes and barely put a foot wrong.

Walton & Hersham next.....at least it gets easier!

Eversley 6 AFC Croydon 1

Fairly even start and then Baker scored from a good move after 22mins. Up until this point it was fairly even and AFCC looked good going forward. Another quickly taken free kick and good work by Willo down the left gave Baker a tap-in for 2-0. We had a few chances to add to the scoreline, but failed to take them.

2nd half saw some of the best football I have seen in my time at Eversley. A quick fire double took his and our tally to 4. The hard working Ricky was then replaced by Liam Fisher. He immediately provided a quality finish to another good move to put us 5-0 up.

AFCC were still pushing forward and their left back (who I thought was their most dangerous player) finished from inside the box with about 25mins to go.

Eversley weren't finished though and another classy finish from Fisher made it 6-1. Both sides had more chances to add to the scoreline, but a mixture of poor finishing and good goalkeeping meant it remained 6-1.

Very impressed with us today and despite the scoreline,I thought AFCC looked good in patches during the game.

Have to agree with Daniel, a virtuoso display from the Boars today, easily our best performance so far this season (from the games i`ve seen) and strange as it may sound against a dangerous Croydon side. A positive approach from the outset allowed Eversley to express themselves and some of the football was a joy to watch from the sidelines.

Bakes got four and at times looked unplayable but this was far from the Matt Baker show will Tom Moran, Bradley Cann, and Neil Williams (Willo) dominating the midfield after an even first 20 minutes. Direction from the home side bench to play a higher back line created the platform for what ensued. Baker finding space from the edge of the box; a trademark finish in the bottom corner; 1-0. Ten minutes later Willo turned the Croydon right back inside out to give Bakes a tap in. The tireless Ricky Hogsden should have made it three just before the half but fluffed his lines from a mere 5 yards after a spillage by the visitors keeper.

Half time chat queuing for teas were silenced by a roasting from the visitors changing room that was louder than the thunder that preceded the game; but the expected 2nd half comeback didn`t materialise and by the 55th minute the game was over. Baker completed his hat trick with a tap in after Brad Cann's 20 yarder fell perfectly for him off the post, followed a few minutes later by his fourth side foooting home Moran's through ball with delicate power.

The games two best goals were still to come. A rejuvenated Liam Fisher (who looks a different player from last season) replaced Hogsden on 60 minutes and slotted two home from over 20 yards. The first an exocet, the second a deft chip that left the Croydon keeper star gazing.

A late consolation agitated the home purists but after a couple of average performances the team is really starting to gel. Exciting times ahead...........hopefully!

Smudge I don't know who all star is but its nice to receive praise from people who veiw the game. I know I wear the 10 but I am not an out and out goalscorer maybe 15 or so a season. Anyone who knows me I operate in behind and would say I am a creative forward who make goals for other players and that's my best role! Not blessed with pace so have to make up with using the ball well and unlocking defence's which I would say is my strength

Croydon v Bedfont Sports

Bit of a coup for Trams getting Pinney, as I see he was on loan at Ebbsfleet last season.

Smudge, the quality of ball retrievers at the Arena is not what it was ;)

Wasnt impressed with molesey last night an felt we should of done better we werent good in possesion an poor in front of goal molesfirst goal a absolute gift from our gk who got caught in possesion we equalised with a scrappy effort an then moles moles scored again to win it we had three great oppurtunities to level none taken i felt this was a game we shouldve won

Fair words though i wasnt impressed at all with croydon they broke up our play but our ball retention was poor today an the first goal was the easiest weve conceded was like moses walking on water lol

Seems a common view from you.

Spoke with a friend at Epsom before we played you as I wanted to get an idea before Tuesday of what you were like, and his comment was "not that impressed with Bedfont", to which I said "they just beat you 4-0"

The season is very early and to be fair I would be surprised if you had been impressed with us on Tuesday as I thought that we werereally poor and honestly felt at half time that we would lose the game, but my lads responded well and pretty much dominated whole of the second half. I was actually impressed with you on Tuesday and feel sure that you will be fine this season.

I wasn't that impressed with Littlehampton but they eventually stuffed us and put us out of the FA Cup.

Results are what matters as you move up the ladder but being realistic is also an important virtue. We've had our best start to theleague for years with 12 points out of 12, but we are far from the side we can be, but have previously played some great football at times with no end product.

Move on.

Maidstone United are through to face Chipstead in the next round of the FA Cup as they overcame Colliers Wood United of the Combined Counties League Premier Division.

Despite the scoreline this was not the most polished performance from The Stones as at times they looked vulnerable at the back and they will be grateful that the visitors failed to take the excellent chance that came their way early in the second half with the game delicately poised at one goal a piece.

There were a number of attempts on goal early on and with just two minutes played, Michael Phillips saw his shot held by Colliers Wood United goalkeeper Daniel Burnatt and then seconds later, Ben Davisson drilled a corner to the near post where it was met by Nicky Humphrey whose header flew wide.

It was then the visitor’s turn to threaten as Cornell McKoy’s cross was allowed to come across the area to Nathan Turner who dragged his shot wide before Tim Olorunda connected with Ryan Cooper’s cross but he could not direct his header on target.

Then with 10 minutes gone, The Stones defence once again went to sleep and they seemed to stand and watch as the ball came across the box to the unmarked Mario Embalo who had the simple task of side footing the ball past the exposed Deren Ibrahim.

It didn’t take long for Maidstone to equalise though as six minutes later, Davisson drove over another corner from the right and Ade Olorunda made a great run across the box and thumped a header into the net.

Humphrey then headed the ball over the stand and Tom Mills drove a low shot wide of the right hand post before The Stones went close to adding a second with the game in first half stoppage time when Davisson shot from just inside the box and Burnatt made a good save to claw the ball away from goal.

Nine minutes after the break, there was a pivotal moment in the game when Colliers Wood United missed a golden opportunity to take the lead. The chance came about when Embalo brushed off Humphrey as he ran down the right and he squared the ball into the box where it reached the unmarked Turner who rushed his shot and fortunately for The Stones he put the ball wide of the left hand post.

Shortly afterwards the visitors were made to pay for their wastefulness in front of goal as Maidstone edged in front. Kaiyne Woolery played the ball down the right to Ryan Cooper who pulled the ball into the box where it was met by Davisson and Paul Booth reacted quickly to score his third goal of the season.

There was then another nervous moment for The Stones at the back when a long ball forwards caused problems as Graeme Andrews tried to head the ball to Ibrahim and Turner nipped in between the Maidstone defender and keeper but Ibrahim managed to make an important block.

This was to be the last time that the visitors threatened though and with 66 minutes on the clock, Maidstone added a third when a free-kick into the box by Davisson was not cleared by the Colliers Wood United defence and with Burnatt drawn from goal, Woolery kept calm and placed a header into the unguarded net.

Then with fourteen minutes remaining, The Stones added some gloss to the scoreline when Booth passed the ball out wide to Woolery on the right and he drove over a good low ball which was met by the sliding substitute Shaun Welford who registered his second goal in as many games.

Maidstone United: Ade Olorunda 16, Paul Booth 57, Kaiyne Woolery 66, Shaun Welford 76.

Colliers Wood United: Mario Embalo 10.

Maidstone United: Deren Ibrahim, Ryan Cooper, Tom Mills, Nicky Humphrey, Graeme Andrews, Tim Olorunda, (Danny Lye 70), Ben Davisson, Michael Phillips (Jay Saunders 77), Ade Olorunda (Shaun Welford 57), Paul Booth, Kaiyne Woolery, Subs not used: Tommy Osborne, Ian Draycott, Alex Flisher, Charlie Mitten.

Colliers Wood United: Daniel Burnatt, Dre Grobler, Ryan Olvar, Samuel Mead (Scott Lawson 12), James Cant, Philip Frodsham, Cornell McKoy (Elija Ogunseye 71), Ryan Hughes, Daniel Hughes, Nathan Turner (Neil John 28), Mario Embalo. Sub not used: Daryl Swaby.
