SteveB
Margate notched up a fairly comfortable. The first will go down to either Richard Avery or an own goal, with the 2nd definitely being Carl Rook's. More details to follow on the official site later. All stats have already been updated pending confirmation of a couple of scores and attendances. PS. Ramsgate lost 3-0 and had their keeper sent off! Bill in USA
I did predict much earlier on you would not lose any home games.

SteveB
I think everything stats-wise is now correct. It is a bit wierd as there are conflicting scores when you look round. Even the Ryman site and Lewes' official site cannot agree on the score in their game!

Jeff Trice
0-0 written all over that then got a slightly lucky goal and a fantastic second - brilliant Rook header. Reminded me massively of first CK era. Bear in mind this is the first time he's got a squad entirely made of players he wants.
OldTowner
Re above comment. Enfield Town WON their first ever Premier League game at Lewes 2. 1. Lewes site state they won 1- 0 What is that all about. Looking forward to our trip to Margate in a few weeks.
Boney Crisp
First 20 minutes we looked as if we would walk the game and then the game went into a massive lul until Avery put us 1-0 up and then after we looked as if we would go on to win the game, which we did. Glad to see that we have a player who knows how to hit a ball from distance in Alex Rhodes, so unlucky not to score today. We were good today without needing to be brilliant or really work hard to get the victory. A good sign? Maybe to early to say, but it's a promising start. Brilliant header by Rook by the way
marksandwell
Great result we deserved the 3 points. Don't think it was our best game but we worked hard, and by gum I bet the condition on the pitch was a wee bit warm.... Not sure I understand why Bodkin & Rook didn't start, but heyho a good start to the season. I would also add the way we are playing makes the opponents look very poor, Hendon were unable to penetrate, yes they were a little bit physical, bit that's what you expect from Hendon. Another three more wins on the trot and i'll be a happy bunny.
Jab_n17
think both teams deserve credit in the way the game was played in those conditions, hot enough watching in the shade let alone running about for 90 mins plus.....hottest day of the year and the football season starts.....nice one

Pagey
and well done to the choir, without who we would have a very quiet ground
SteveB
Although disappointed with the crowd yesterday, it was still the 3rd highest in the division. I wonder if the heat caused fans around the league to stay away?
michael
I wonder how many of the 260 at herne bay yesTerday would on other occasions been at Margate-maybe 20 or so lost to Herne Bay ? Lots of competitive football in Kent and the north kent coast these days. I thought Margate played well yesterday-it is the ryman-and its never going to be fantastic-but thought that was about as good as it is going to get-so well pleased. That given-could'nt give two hoots how we win anyway-just get the win-and they sure did. Thought that it took until second half to secure the win was also a 'positive' as it showed PATIENCE which is a quality that the better teamS have. Much as i think we just need one more real player in central midfield if we are really going to be top 5-i thought Avery and Corneille were great yesterdAy.i can see why Avery was m of m-although i personally would have given it to corneille. Both were excellent imo. A clean sheet as well-it does'nt get much better. Only area where i thought we were marginally compromised was after scoring -where obviously teams will come at you a bit more to fOrce the equaliser-but we did succombe a it -and for the 20 minutes between the goals-did not look quite so assured. On another day-the equaliser could haVe come before we secured the all important second goal. Great start-well done margate.
margateshot
I think the attendance was down to both the weather, and that it still very much holiday season. Boney Crisp
I'm sure a lot of neutrals would have preferred the beach or a BBQ then stand in that heat for 90 mins. Aslong as those 300 keep returning and we keep playing good football like and winning, it won't be long until we will be back up at the 500 mark
Paul H
What a great game of football it was yesterday. Those shots that hit the bar in the first half were great. If one of those had gone in it would have been a contender for goal of the season. On the subject of attendance. I think its up to each and every one of us to get the word out. Bring a mate to the game and in time the crowds will improve. I also think that IF the new ground gets built and IF it is more family friendly, attendances will improve. I think CK has put together a great team and for the first time in a long while, I think Margate will do well this season.
