Margate Football Club Ltd - AGM Update

so if i understand correctly-IF,IF,IF the 'funding letter 'is received in the timeline suggested, there may be a start date about January, but there is a short term cash shortage with construct stadia understandably putting their sponsorship on hold ?

better break the rules then and win a few more cup games than usual and get some prize money in

I'm actually not sure if this great news or ok news. Unless we have a great cup run or we sign another Appiah I'd be very surprised to see us make a profit, but atleast we won't be looking at expenditure of nearly £110,000 so I suppose that is good

With the whole stadium thing, there is little to get excited about until we actually see building work commence and I am slightly worried that travedge's reduced lease terms, may still be longer that what the council would want which will then put us back to square one and we will probably lose any relation with construct stadia. Dissapointing although expected that the stadium is now going to cost us more

Atleast there wasn't any actual bad news I suppose

Did'nt wellsie post state that the council had accepted the lease terms ?

(accepted and actually signed could be different though-have they actually achieved signed acceptance )

One assumes they have if it has gone off for funding approval.

From day omne-about 8 years ago-i have always stated that it is simply about the money.

The main point of contention to me seems very simple-:

are the funds avaialbe from the 'city'

One assumes travellodge are well connected-albeit are'nt they trying to realign/restructure their company debt in the city as a separate issue ?

Not there last night so could not get the body languange/nuances/chances on a scale of 1-10 that funding will be available;but from afar-to my uneducated and ill informed eye-its the same old thing-will funding get acceptance ?

It wasn't expenditure of £110k, it was a loss of £110k in 2010/11. The income that year was, off the top of my head, £95k and expenditure over £200k. Expenditure roughly similar last season but there was a massive increase in income, mainly thanks to increased commerical activity and the Kwesi fee. Probably makes us the only club in the Ryman Premier to have made a profit in 2011/12.

As for the ground, as long as Travelodge are still involved, that is good news. If there was no hope of it happening they wouldn't be wasting their time.

With Construct Stadia withdrawing their sponsorship, does that mean that the club are looking for a new main sponsor, or will we still have construct stadia on our shirts? It also means that we al need to pull together and support the club in as many ways as possible, until the funding starts to come in. So come on, buy those meat draw tickets and 50/50 tickets on Saturday and don't forget to renew or join MISA on Saturday.

To be clear, Construct have not withdrawn sposnorship - the next payment is dependant upon a confirm start date.

Just read it again (with a less tired head) and it appears you're correct. I'm just worried despite everything seemingly sounding great, the council would then decide that there is a problem somewhere else and it will be something petty.

Sorry I should have made it clearer that I was talking about post profit expenditure ;)

We don't have the figures so it's difficult to see if a lot of our profit was made through the sale of Kwesi Appiah, which is why unless we can reduce our expenditure we may see a loss although considerably smaller then a loss of £110k which as I said is still a progressive step.

I need to stop being skeptical, I'm taking Michaels job away from him ;)

Thank goodness you've said that, Michael. Normally we lose cup ties deliberately but, thanks to your messages here, I'm sure the club will now try to win them.

Maybe thats an issue with many- lots of people pretend to try.

Is trying just completely meaningless ?-i could try (and fail ) to swim the channel.

is trying for losers and a means of covering up that deep down you ain't gonna do it-whereas doing it is what actually counts ?

anyway-could'nt care less if we try to win tomorrow-just make sure we do.

(although for first game of the season-always happy with a draw no matter who its against. )

I don't think that will be the case this time. Reading between the lines, and this is purely my opinion, but I think the council got quite a lot of crtisicm last time and took the blame for the lease not being signed in time for the deadline. It appears they have tried very hard to resolve this now and i would not be surprised if they were part of Travelodge returning to the table.
