how the heck did grays manage to score 9 against you, when they came to hornchurch they were totally out classed and we won 3-0, and when we played st.albans you beat us 2-0 it just doesn't make any sense....

Down to ten men for over an hour with a youngster in goal.

But it would've been nice if we'd put a tackle or two into the match.

If you're gonna ship nine, The Rec is the place to do it!

When you are put in the position of having to play a lot of youngsters, the very least you expect is for the senior players to stand up and be counted. Only Martin and Gledhill did that last night, the rest may as well have not been on the park. Martin especially worked his socks off with absolutely no support.

Lets set the record straight. The only "youngster" starting the game was Perfect, who most people thought had a reasonable game on Saturday, so that seemed a fair shout. All the others starting the game are first team squad players, young or old.

Barry being sent off, unjustly in my opinion, obviously lead to Hanson making his debut, therefore there were two "youngsters" on the park.

The other "youngsters" were on the bench, a good place for them to be last night as they now have been made aware of what standards are acceptable to progress. Cross and Parsons joined the fray late on but by then the game was up.

This morning comments are quite disapointing, even if in some cases justified. There are obviously problems to be resolved but constant negativity, slagging off and in some cases down right nastiness (some from people who delight in doing this) is not what is needed at the moment.

The amazing thing is that some of these posts come from people who have not been to the park for a long time (and I don't mean the last few weeks), so if you are really that unhappy and you feel you have something positive to contribute please come forward and make yourself known. If you haven't got any worthwhile, constructive suggestions and you are not even prepared to come and watch and therefore have an informed opinion, sod off and annoy someone else.

CZ - Appreciate your first comment. All I was aiming to do was to make it clear that having to play the odd youngster is no real excuse for certain things happening on the field of play at the moment. Given time, some of these boys will be a positive bonus for the club. Until then, with the injuries and other goings on they are our only hope. I think everyone appreciates this.

I also agree that the fans have a right to be disappointed and down beat but the scale of the negative comments and in some cases down right abuse is not acceptable under any circumstances. You and me both know there is a certain amount of banter and jousting that appears on here from time to time and that is taken in the spirit it is intended by most people. <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

The people I am refering to are not "real fans" and only come on here to stir the s**t.

They should take their "support" and make it available to a team that would welcome their level of intelligence demonstrated so far ....... I was going to suggest an under 7 side but that would be an insult to the under sevens.

It is actually the worst League result since losing 0-8 at home to Wycombe Wanderers on 28th August 1958 - 45 years. However on 29th September 1923 City were beaten 1-9 at Wycombe(the only other reverse by this score) but went on to win the Isthmian League Championship - Nil Desperandum.

Hi TC. Just to make things clear, nobody is having a pop at any of the youngsters and when I say youngsters, I include Deacon, Seeby, Perfect, Murray and also the three subs who played last night in this, even allowing for the fact that three of them are regular first teamers at present. Indeed the efforts of all of them are more than appreciated by everyone. They are the future lifeblood of this football club and anyone with an ounce of sense can surely see that.

As far as I can make out, what is of more concern to the supporters are the performances of some (and it is painfully clear who they are) of the more senior members of the team/squad and it is this that needs addressing.
