Smudge
Living in this wonderful Island of ours, when you suffer an accident, that needs Medical Attention,of you go to A&E.My worry at my age is more my Heart, may fail when ballboying,or I see a wonder Goal.Still someone would ring 999,Ambulance would arrive, take me off to Hospital, where I would get First Class Treatment, from our wonderful NHS Staff,FREE OF CHARGE.Just read an article on Ormering.Com where in Guernsey Medical Treatment is NOT FREE,would my flight insurance cover any such occurence, and are all Players who go to Guernsey, covered if this were to happen. Can someone put my mind at rest before I book. Also does the cost of Insurance increase for us old uns. maisiecat
No, we pay for all medical treatment. There is NO NHS. Travel medical insurance is essential. Of course players that come over are insured for the trip, do you think that this would not be the case??? Age is not so much a bar as pre-existing conditions. Wise people in Guernsey have private primary medical and ambulance insurance, it can be expensive otherwise. Our specialist care is covered by a compulsory insurance that is States run and we all pay into it. It does mean we get good care with small waiting lists. HKP
I am sure I read somewhere that insurance is in place for visiting players. If coming to Guernsey then I would advise travel insurance. Plenty of choices out there. We have to pay to visit the Doctor or receive treatment in A&E, same for visitors.

maisiecat
It's something we take for granted, we've never known it any other way. I've paid my own insurance since I left school and was on family policy before it.

maisiecat
I don't think our A&E is free for visitors since the recip health agreement was scrapped.
Big J R
On my last trip to Guernsey, I needed minor medical attention. Thankfully, I had arranged cover, (very cheap) with my travel arrangements. Just walked into the nearest doctors surgery where I was staying on the west of the Island and was seen immediately - No probs. Wonderful service.
