Big J R
It is with great sadness that Dorking F.C. have to report the death of their Life President, Ingram Whittingham. He passed away, peacefully in his sleep in a Dorking nursing home in the the early hours of Monday 13th. August. Ingram had been connected with football all his life, serving both on Leagues and within the F.A. He was a larger than life, true gentleman. Our condolences to all his family and friends. R.I.P. Big J R
MY PERSONAL OBIT. I knew Ingram first, through my work within Community Services with Mole Valley District Council. He would spend most lunch-times at the Dorking Day Centre, run by MVDC, where he would have lunch and talk to one and all. If my 'hours' allowed, we would often take a late lunch there together, usually to the absolute disgust of the kitchen staff ! We would spend 15 minutes putting the world in general to rights, and another fifteen minutes discussing football, where Ingram would talk more sense in five minutes than most modern pundits do in an hour of television time. He was my kind of man - Polite and charming, BUT like me, he NEVER suffered fools gladly. The football world has lost a great ambassador. Sleep well, Ingram. Jeff Hamnett TSF
Im saddened to see that, he was a very charming man, who always enjoyed talking football and life in general even to us young'uns years ago. To those who never knew him, cross Jimmy Hill with Terry Thomas, and add the sort of zest for life that saw him appear on Cillas Blind date as a pensioner and you have a hint of him in his later life. A life well lived, Sir.
