What is his name?

One thing worth noting, is that Jersey is a far richer island and does more to attract Millionaires and therefore it is more commonplace for some of their residents to give out wads of cash.

Does this explain the animosity between the Isles ?

I thought is started in World War II, on disagreement over relations with the invading Germans !

Then there is the history over allegience to 'The Crown'.

Still - Tax reasons is good enough for me.

Even if there was a rich benefactor out there I don't think it would make much difference. It won't change the fact that rugby is more important at footes lane than football.

Ad they won't be able to build a new stadium/pitch in time even if they could get planning permission (which they wouldn't).

Take it from your post,Guernsey Local, you are anti Guernsey FC.

Get to the 3rd round of the FA Cup and that might change ;)

Maybe Green Fingers could help, lets just say Guernsey do not get Footes Lane up to Step 4 standard, what would be their cut off date to find another Groundshare that would allow them to be promoted.I was under the impression that you cannot just put in place a Groundshare Agreement,to obtain Promotion.

Clubs promoted from Step 6 with a "G" grade have until 31st March to obtain the "F" grading which they need to retain their Step 5 status (Farnham Town were examples last season).

Clubs seeking promotion from Step 5 to Step 4 must have at least an "E" grading and if promoted have until 31st March in the new season to upgrade to the "D" grade needed to retain Step 4 status.

Any Club failing to get the necessary grading by 31st March face relegation - as you correctly state you cannot subsequently arrange a groundshare to avoid that relegation or to achieve promotion.

Horley, Westfield & Frimley Green were all relegated a few seasons back due to not having the correct grading at 31st March - Frimley Green's late groundshare agreement with Farnborough Town was deemed too late to save them - it needed to have been in place at the start of that season.

However, if a Club was able to purchase or obtain a lease to a facility that did meet the grading requirements, then my view is that all should be ok.

To summarise:

To avoid relegation back to Step 6 - obtain "F"" grade by 31st March 2013 or obtain a suitable new ground (not groundshare) by end of season.

To be eligible for promotion to Step 4 obtain "F" grade by 31st March 2013 then "E" grade by end of season or obtain a suitable new ground (not groundshare) by end of season.

As ever I'm happy to be corrected if I've misinterpreted current rules

You're always correct GF! (Oops. Edit. Just re-read your post - the last bit is incorrect. Promotion to step 4 = 'E' by March 31st, 'D' by March 31st the following season to stay there.)

The 'groundsharing to gain promotion or avoid relegation' FA rule is a bit ambiguous. It's basically down to each league to interpret as they see fit with the FA having the ultimate say. The CCL have always had the one year rule which, I'm pretty certain, they've applied consistently. That's what stopped Lammas going up a couple of years ago.

I'm buggered if I can remember where I read it, but the Ryman League have recently announced their version of the rule (I hope this wasn't in a private email I received!). They don't like groundshares (except when it helps their members such as Hendon, Horsham & Kingstonian) and they've decided teams who groundshare who keep their own grounds (like Lammas, Bookham in the past etc.) won't be allowed up unless they can prove they've done everything they can to get their own ground up to standard. This includes proof of planning applications etc.

I can see this rule impacting on Guernsey unless they act quickly although it remains to be seen whether a move to another ground on the island will be seen as a new groundshare or just them moving ground.

FA rules often leave more unsaid than said. There are plenty of them that a half decent lawyer, or even you or I, could tear apart in court. Using words in the grading documents like 'may be acceptable' isn't good enough.

I've found this season's version of the standardised rules that every league in the pyramid has to adopt. This is the groundsharing bit:-

A Club’s Ground may be shared with another Club or any other club (including a club

engaged in another sport) providing, where sharing with a football club the Club or club

playing in the most senior competition has priority of fixtures at all times and, where

sharing with a club engaged in another sport, the Club has priority of fixtures. A Club will not

be permitted to ground share to gain promotion or to avoid relegation. Ground sharing may

not be permitted when one of the sharers retains the use of another ground unless that

club can show by means of a refused planning permission or similar that it cannot meet the

requirements of the Criteria Document at that ground. Any Club wishing to share a Ground

or intending to move to a new Ground must obtain the written consent of the Board. Any

Ground sharing for a period exceeding thirteen (13) weeks must be in writing and a written

agreement must first be approved by the Board before being entered into and (except in an

emergency) must be completed by 31 March in any year to be effective for the following

Playing Season. A copy of the completed signed and dated agreement must be received by

the Competition within fourteen days of the approval being sent to the Club.

Not at all. GFC has given opportunities to those who would never have them before, has increased the profile of the sport and done well for the community as a whole. Without it local football would still be plodding along like it had been.

All I said in that quote were basic facts that can't be argued with.

It will be interesting to see how the ground issue pans out.

Been a while since i've posted here (mainly because i now live in Hong Kong) but what are the issues with the ground? Is it because it is not enclosed? I can't imagine the pitch and facilities being an issue?

One good thing I like about this new internet contraption,is that you can read about things all over the World. And that includes Newspapers, they love a bit of doom and gloom, muck raking, setting people against each other. The best way to do that is mention large sums of money, always gets people talking, especially the tight gits, normally the ones who have a few bob are the worst.Which brings me around to my reason for posting this,it was alledged on here that an incident occurred in Guernsey, that may prevent CCL Clubs having a nights stay in the lovely Isle, being normal human beings we all think the worst.Papers get most of their stories/reports from internet sites,ie Football related,so putting 2 and 2 together nothing major happened in Guernsey, reason the Guernsey Press have not reported anything. The CCL have sent out an E.Mail telling all Clubs not to comment on it,comment on what may I ask,LAZARUS we live in a democracy, where Free Speech is a given right.Maybe you could explain your reasons for doing this?

Not to be too pedantic, Smudge, but the real internet is hardly new.

In fact, the internet was first developed in the 1950s: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_Internet. It's only been the 1980s onwards since the internet that we know of today has come to fruition.
