The trouble with Dorking appears to be:

a) a council not too keen on helping it out

B) uncertainty over the future of the club, due to pressure from supermarkets

c) a rival club just down the road (Dorking Wanderers).

d) probably not much money to go round

The club, council and supermarket representatives (in my opinion) need to get together to talk about the implications for Dorking FC. If all three could work together towards a new ground being paid for by private money, then it could act as a catalyst for them.

Once that gets sorted, then they can plan properly for the future and maybe a shot at the Ryman Leagues.

Councils can be a lottery, with regards to football clubs - whilst some see them as important for social aspects and fitness (as well as fun) others see them as a hindrance and a waste of money.

The council here are definitely the latter - if you are a rugby club, you get everything paid for plus a big ribbon around it. If you're a football club, you get diddly squat.

That's the trouble with the council's in some grounds there not willing to do much!then u look at Westfield and knaphill that were giving new facilities and pitch well looked after!and Eversley aswel.

It's a private company that maintain the pitches at Eversley. This is funded by the membership fees of the Sports Association. The thinking is that we can attract players to a decent pitch, rather than paying large sums of money to players for a short term gain.

That would appear to be the case around Dorking.

HOWEVER................. The M.V.D.C. CEO is on the move in September, to pastures new to the west, so who knows ???

Shame the councils ground maintenance team haven't looked after the pitch very well since it was signed over to them!!

I am not going to comment further on the above as far as Dorking is concerned.
