If that's the case (and assuming they drive),I believe they are being paid more than just expenses.

Like I said,I don't think it's a great deal. Those doing two games a weekend are picking up around £70 with fuel costs of no more than £10 (being very generous with that figure). This would mean a surplus of £60 for kit and meetings. Just can't see that adding up myself.

Bigger clothes are more expensive.

Some of these posts against officials are ridiculous no matter what level a ref is they make mistakes just like players do at every level of the game one of the great things I have always found about football are the talking points after games where these decisions effect games etc

The fact is without the officials that give up there time we would have no league maybe it's time to accept these mistakes happen and are part and parcel of the game and what makes it such a great game

I am in no means a perfect example and have felt hard done by with certain decisions but it is football at the end of the day

This forum used to have some great posts and posters but seems to be taken over by sniping and getting at certain posters and teams

Onto today's game and the ref was alright. She admitted she'd made a mistake at one incident which is something you can only respect her for. The only point I'd pull her up on was giving a free-kick for handball to Wokingham when our player kicked the ball against one of theirs and it came back and hit him on the arm. Absolutely no way a hand-ball as there was no intent and no advantage gained.

You are correct regarding hand-ball being judged by intent, but gaining an advantage has no bearing in Law.

Really Daniel. Lets say I did a game at Horley. Roughly 60 miles round trip @45p per mile. there is £27 straight away.

Krooner,no wonder you Refs are not millionaires,78 miles round trip to Horley @45p per mile = £34.20p,your £7.20 out of pocket, before you start.£7.20p equates to 3 burgers, or in my case 2 BEERS.my young friend.Never guess(roughly)be exact,it helps!!! KNOW IT IS A HARD HABIT TO BREAK.

Most companies set their mileage allowance depending on the cc of the car, as agreed by Her Maj's revenue bods.

Mileage rates haven't increased much over the past few years, where as running costs have !

That 45p per mile is a maximum HMRC approved rate for up to 10,000 business miles per tax year. Above 10,000 is only 25p per mile.

These are not the actual costs of running a car,but the maximum approved rate by HMRC (for obvious reasons).

Are we suggesting all officials declare their earnings to HMRC? I would guess they don't.
