There seems to be quite a few comments about the performance of the officials?! so early in the season? Is there a reason for this? Did they have a poor pre-season? Are they under different pressures from the league or FA? It does not bode well for the rest of the season!!!

We've had two good refs so far. There was a slight question mark over one of the linos in the South Park game not keeping up with play but that's common.

Interesting to see that some refs don't appearing to be taking any notice of the new 'tape must match sock colour' law. There are a couple of comments on other forums mentioning this as well as the usual stuff about refs being told to f**k off by players and doing nothing about it. Nothing changes.

SO a Lino, who cannot keep up with Play is ok in your book.YOUR EASY TO PLEASE.Wait till it results in a goal against your side, you will not pooh pooh it then.Been to 4 games so far this season,seen/heard no Verbal Abuse, and the Sock Tape Law followed.

I didn't say it was OK. I said it was common. One of the South Park goals was offside according to some people (I was getting chips so didn't see it) so it has resulted in a goal against my side.

If it had not resulted in a Goal, would you have mentioned the fact that the Lino, was slow.I base my opinions on what I see,not what others tell me,no wonder the Officials take stick.

With regards to the Knaphill v Kilburn game it wasnt a case of blaming the ref because its an easy option it was a situation were the most junior of officials would have shown a red card even Redders has pleaded guilty.Im not a ref basher as i think they cant win but this decision was the most unbelievable im sure i will ever see.

You don't half talk some rubbish at times Smudge.

I'll give you a tip - never assume anything about what I think as you'll invariably be wrong.

In the first half it was us having a go at the lino for not keeping up, in the second half it was the South Park players saying exactly the same thing. We were mentioning it throught the game.

At the end of the day South Park deserved to win, we deserved to lose. The lino was poor for both sides.

Onto today's game and the ref was alright. She admitted she'd made a mistake at one incident which is something you can only respect her for. The only point I'd pull her up on was giving a free-kick for handball to Wokingham when our player kicked the ball against one of theirs and it came back and hit him on the arm. Absolutely no way a hand-ball as there was no intent and no advantage gained. Ten minutes later the same thing happened to a Wokingham defender in the box and we weren't given a penalty. Funny how the same incident gets different results depending on whether it's an attacking or a defending player involved but this is another thing refs often fail on. A foul outside the box is more likely to be given than exactly the same foul inside the box as refs are scared to give too many penalties.

We won 2-1 at Arundel.

It was a comfortable win and a lovely picturesque venue and the hosts laid on hot food for players and officials. A lovely group of people who were friendly all day.

Considering they had beaten Lingfield and Lancing already this season and that we bossed the game, it was a nice confidence booster after the disappointment of a 94th minute Badshot Lea winning goal last Tuesday!

Good Post VP. I thought she had an ok game. Made a few mistakes but by christ she was nowhere near as bad as the players on the pitch. Now that was poor !!!

Officials are paid to apply the laws of the game, players are asked to carry out instructions of the manager and coach. Officials are graded by the govening body, (many too highly to 'fasttrack' them) some players are at a club due to circumstances (availability not ability!). You cannot compare the two Kroons!!!

Oh I am sorry Ace. Dare I have a go at players not performing. Why I am so sorry. I paid £9 for myself and my son to watch so I expect players to be able to entertain me. They failed miserably.

Just to correct you the Officials are not paid they are given expenses to cover the cost of officiating. And you and I know that unfortunately too many players in the CCL ARE paid to play.

Ace,Krooner always comes back to that old Chesnut about the Players standard,it's his trademark out.Shame he missed the Community Shield today, his comments would of been interesting, but the same,THE PLAYERS WERE POOR.

Slightly different at the top level smudge because they are all paid to do their job. Some of the people involved are on £100k a year but a number of them were on £100k + a week.

How are the officials expenses broken down? £40+ seems quite a lot more than the cost of fuel.

Happy to be corrected, but I would suggest they are paid (all be it,not a great amount).

Kit that they have to wear as per instructions from the FA. Cost of going to meetings that they have to attend. Cost of travelling to fitness tests they have to attend. Just a few of the costs involved.

If that's the case (and assuming they drive),I believe they are being paid more than just expenses.

Like I said,I don't think it's a great deal. Those doing two games a weekend are picking up around £70 with fuel costs of no more than £10 (being very generous with that figure). This would mean a surplus of £60 for kit and meetings. Just can't see that adding up myself.

Fitness Tests, for most all you would need is Tape Measure, understand the new kits bit,but a Tape measure would solve that too.Imber Court is expensive though.
