MiddleMan
Of course, pre-match meal is important to match officials as well as players. For me it's a ritual - 3.00 pm KO means large bowl of porridge with banana at 11.30 am. Just finished mine, so no excuses if off the pace this afternoon! MiddleMan
Powerade before & squash at HT and after. Have always known in the back of my mind that sports drinks were pretty worthless, and this was confirmed on recent Panorama programme. Supposedly squash with a tiny pinch of salt is much better and a lot cheaper! So once my current stock of the blue stuff is used up I'm planning to switch to the economy option. Mewcenary
Typical pre-match breakfast: 3 x poached eggs, 2 x wholemeal bread, 2 x bacon. No butter etc. Half-time: Isotonic drinks + water. Ensure hydration waaaaaay before a match as well. For an evening match, I'll generally have a hefty carb-loaded lunch as well.
Big J R
As opposed to Sunday League football, which usually means two or three tinnies to clear the head after a boozy Saturday night, allegedly ???

The Mayor Of Simpleton
When I was playing, any player who had a pre-match pint either had a severe ear-bashing and extra training or got dropped from the team on the day.
