Can Refs Get Any Stupider ?

Recommended Posts

i don't mean fiddle with their todger but each to their own i suppose ;0

By abuse,even backchat or worse.

Lol

I was sent off once for calling a ref a "Tw*t" My mistake and I apologised to him after the game. that was 17 years ago. Since then not me. I disagree with decisions given but at no time do I abuse officials and will always say hi to them in the bar after the game if they come in.

"the person at the top of the thread clearly didnt know the laws otherwise they wouldnt have made the comment they did "

Neither did the mangement of Welling and Crystal Palace. Or perhaps they did but thought its only pre season friendly but forgot about the jods worth of a pratt in the middle.

If i hear of a player coming on the pitch twice in pre season friendly, i will report that referee to the FA as you recomend.

Not that i will be looking at pre season reports for such an incident - Of course i will and i will get pleasure in finding one and reporting the ref.

I think that both ourselves and Maidstone would take great pleasure in reporting the referee at our recent match as he allowed already substituted Aaron Gayle to come back on for Touhy - Did someone mention that the refs have to follow the laws of the game or risk suspension?

I think that both clubs should report the ref to the FA even though it was a friendly, because - quote Krooner "I would expect from people that do not know the laws" and get him suspended along with Frank and the Maidstone player.

Exactly how many refs out there dont know the laws Krooner ?

Nice Spin Biased Bob. the thread started off as having a pop at the ref for correctly applying the laws fo the game and you have turned onto one that didnt. Cant have it both ways Bob.

I was a referee for about 15 years EU on the CCL. Was I a good ref ? Well I was as good as the players on the CCL otherwise I wouldnt have been at the same level. why did I stop. Becuase of the constant moaning and whinging and general abusing of officials. My final game saw a manager of a side who I had known for around 10 years thump my door and call me a C*nt. Am I one of them no. Was I a cheat ? No. Was I a perfect ref ? No. Did I make mistakes ? Yes. Did I deserve that ? No.

Did I conform to what the system wanted ? No and probably not as an assesor either. I will always be my own person and will express my opinions. I am a strong believer in referees who are on to a constant hiding to nothing. We all expect the best referees but are happy the players are Level 3 (in your case ) players. Referees make less mistakes than players and that is a proven fact. We would rather blame referees than look at our own short comings. that includes chairmen, committee members, managers, coaches, players and supporters.

Do I want rogue referees and bad referees removed. Yes I do. 99.99% of the referees are good honest people who do their level best at all times. they do not deserve the sh1t they get.

I would happily sit down for an evening and repeat some of the horror stories I know of that no-one deserves but referees are subject too. that is from all people involved in football.

I will always defend a referee unless it is proven that they did something on purpose. Not one of then deserves to be abused at all. It is time we stopped it and we need to start at the top and work down. I personally dont think the 2nd posting on this thread helps. It may have been said in jest and I understand that but there will be some ididot somewhere that could take that as licence to actually do it.

I dont know you Eu but maybe one day we will meet and because we may disagree on things will never make me dislike you and I would happily share a beer or two discussing things.

the fact remains that I personally disagree with much that is written in this thread. You have a player suspended for 3 games for an act of violent conduct that you guys havent denied. Yet it is the ref who gets grief and not your player.

My opinion.

Mines a stella mate.

My problem with referees isn't the referees but more the way the rules are applied.

In league and cup games we all know the rules and we may not like decisions but most of the time we respect them.

Pre season matches are different, they can be more relaxed and some flashpoints though the same level of incident can be dealt with differently.Herein lies the problem as it becomes an unfair playing field.

I wouldn't mind if every bit of violence was met with a 3 match ban but it isnt

You get good players, and you get good referees (99% of the time).

You get dirty players, and you get 'bent' referees (1% of the time).

The second lot are the problem.

Interesting post. I don't envy what referees have to put up with and I have watched matches where the fans have been screaming at refs when the ref has actually made the correct call. No referee should ever be threatened with violence (or worse), that's a given.

Football can be an emotive game and if you see a ref give an incorrect decision, sometimes costing the team the game, frustrations can tend to get released. I'm not condoning it, I'm just stating what happens. I'll be honest, I have occasionally moaned at refs when the decision is so blatently wrong it's embarrasing - I've never sworn at one or threatened one though. I don't consider myself to be a bad person. There may be frustration over the team's performances or it may be a socialogical issue there, I don't know but I think that most fans are decent people and that probably most of the abuse will come from a minority of people.

I think the original subject of the thread was about a ref not allowing a goalkeeper to be allowed back on the pitch in a friendly. Regardless of the rules, surely a bit of common sense should be demonstrated at friendlies - I've seen refs in a number of pre-season friendlies that have allowed changes to be made of that nature - I'm sure the FA are not going to punish any of the refs for that.

As for the sendings off in our game - It would have been nice if the ref allowed the teams to substitute the players as no-one got hurt and it was a friendly but in a competitive match both would have been sent off, I'll admit that

I sort of agree and disagree with pre season matches. I agree with subs should be allowed back on but if someone does a bad tackle that warrants a card then it should be a card it doesnt matter what game it is in.

I am friends with a ref who was discilpined for allowing 2 players to be substituted rather than cautioned. What do you think he know does in pre season games.

I have agree re the violence one but someone shouldnt get off with it because someone else did !!

I look forward to buying your that beer one day EU.
