Can Refs Get Any Stupider ?

Recommended Posts

Welling played Crystal Palace in a pre season friendly and changed their goal keepers at half time. The keeper in goal in the 2nd half had to go of to have stiches put in his head.

Welling asked Palace if they put the keeper from the 1st half back in goal. Palace said ok.

The player was about to go back on and the idiot of a ref said no.

An outfield player had to go in goal.

Its a pre season friendly you dick head of ref. Not the the Champions League cuo final.

Yep sort of pathetic response I would expect from people that do not know the laws. Good to see a moderator advocating violence too.

It is the law makers you should have the problem with. If that referee had allowed it there is a possibility he would have been suspended for not following instructions given to him and others.

Stupid to have to apply that rule in a friendly though.

Maybe, but rools is rools !!

Referees have to abide or face the wrath of the F.A.

Well the FA should rescind the rule for friendlies so the refs don't have to enforce a rule that doesn't apply

The problem with the law makers (i.e. the FA in this case) is that they are not accountable to anyone. If we don't like some of the laws in this country then we have the democratic right to vote the government out for another one (or two at the moment).

Also let's face it, referees are not consistent in their decision making and as a result the players and management don't know where they stand on occasions with the rules.

piss off krooner,i would quite easily finish my moderating duties just so i could be able to make comments like that and for what its worth it was tongue in cheek, but you wouldnt know that as it was a comment on this forum where 99% of people are my mates.

And dont accuse people of not knowing the rules,we all know them and know that some referees adhere to them and others don't.

Last week we had a player sent off after getting a nasty kick (assault) to his side,he reacted by pushing the bloke over with a bit of force and both were sent off.

Last night i went to a game, saw the same incident, actually it was worse, the two were told to be substitued.

Result,we get a player with a 3 match ban while another club in the same league gets a player who can play in all 3 of those games despite committing a worse offence.

When incidents like this stop then perhaps the abuse of referees may stop.

Perhaps you should direct your abuse at the law makers. Abuse will never stop at refs because they are the easy targets for people and are always the one to blame.

the person at the top of the thread clearly didnt know the laws otherwise they wouldnt have made the comment they did and actually nor would you.

I do agree with your point re the sending off as the players in the other game should have been sent off too. Them not getting sent off doesnt excuse the players before though and doesnt mean they shouldnt have been sent off. I guess you are not going to blame your player for missing the first 3 games for an act of violent conduct ?

It was 2-1 to Welling "O". They have had a good pre season.

Going back to Krooner's remark.

It reminds me of a Ware v Tilbury pre season friendly. Two players went up for the ball and came down knocking 10 bells out of each other. Ref gave red card to both players but did not mention it in his report. Neither player suspended.

One of the many problems with refs today - Inconsistency.

"the person at the top of the thread clearly didnt know the laws otherwise they wouldnt have made the comment they did "

Neither did the mangement of Welling and Crystal Palace. Or perhaps they did but thought its only pre season friendly but forgot about the jods worth of a pratt in the middle.

If i hear of a player coming on the pitch twice in pre season friendly, i will report that referee to the FA as you recomend.

Not that i will be looking at pre season reports for such an incident - Of course i will and i will get pleasure in finding one and reporting the ref.

I think that both ourselves and Maidstone would take great pleasure in reporting the referee at our recent match as he allowed already substituted Aaron Gayle to come back on for Touhy - Did someone mention that the refs have to follow the laws of the game or risk suspension?

Edited by cup of tea
