A makeshift side but evens for the first 21 minutes, then White was sent off, Hanson came on, they scored the pen and a couple of minutes later, Hanson hesitated before coming out and he now knows how quick Leroy Griffiths is. 4-0 at half time. 8-0 at 80 minutes when Simon curled a free-kick round the wall from 30 yards. Hopes of a come-back dashed when Grays scored on 89 minutes. 9-1. It would have been double figures but for a couple of blinding saves from Hanson in the second half and the woodwork once and Castle's goal-line clearance.

 

Awayday was there and his report will be on later today.

 

I spoke to that hack from the Observer. We've not conceded 9 in a league game in his lifetime, he said. He offered to look up the date of the last time but I declined his offer.

 

My Father won Knocky's away golden goal but it was no consolation.

Normally when a new manager is put in place, results improve, if only sometimes just for a few games.

 

We draw 0-0 at home against a team that will probably be relegated, followed by a 1-9 defeat against a team that won't be champions come May.

 

I hear Castle was formally appointed as manager yesterday afternoon? What a joke. What a shambles.

 

1-9 isn't a thrashing. It's an embarrassment and wholly unacceptable. Does anyone at the club actually know what they're doing??

Until this debacle at Grays i was thinking that with 2/3 new players we might be alright....now i think we might need 6/7 new players and that is very difficult to do in mid-season and we don't have the money to prise away real quality from other clubs.... i say bring back Mark Frost and Kevin Buckler......
