dannyriding
Ok that was different, first half was attack attack attack and shoot on sight, and with a very much changed side in the second was much the same. We totally dominated a well drilled invicta side and showed some very classy moves along the channels to allow the wide men to run the game, the second half invicta changed to combat our tactics - so we changed ours to flow the ball through the centre of the pitch which IMO they couldnt cope with. Carl Rook must be signed, Dolby (think thats his name) scored the goal of the match and starkey could well be a very good sub signing for defence. Wish we could go into the season with this team as it is but budget dictates we are not going to. Will be a shame to let anyone go but thats up to CK.......................... roll on Bromley as we owe them a beating
Cookie
Agree Andy, Starkey is a must for the full backs roll i.m.o. Dolby has shined both times I've seen him. A very dangerous & exciting player to have in your side. Will undoubtedly create & score quite a few goals if signed. I hope both are signed up a.s.a.p. and not left till its to late or cast aside. We'd be mad not to sign these two with immediate effect. Two well & truly "penned " in for me. All night, great attacking football. Wellsie says in his report it got quieter in the 2nd half. Well that's not how I saw it.Thought we upped the tempo from the first half. This game was similar to the Whitstable match in that the replacements that came on in the second half created more.First half those out there created a few too. All played well on the night, both halves & CK really does have a selection dilemma (which has to be a good thing). Corneille should get a mention too as he had a real good game in midfield. marksandwell
The boys played well, like the style of football, like the attacking force, like pushing up into opposition half all the time, like the result. Lets show Bromley how good we are....
BlueGate Alan
Agree with all the above, Starkey, Dolby and Rook need to be signed for sure. Murphy superb again looks stronger than he did last season. You have to remember Tony that Wellsie has difficulties seeing down the far end of pitch
michael
Similarly agree with most of the above. I thought first fifteen minutes set the tone-started with a fast tempo-particularly corneille and stubbs who 'drove us on'. Can we/will we do similar in league games ?- its probably part and parcel of it-but in league games-in past we seem to play according to how the opposition play- go behind-and only then start playing ). Is endeavouring to take control from the start the' new way of thinking '. As others state-dominated second half-apart from one ten minute spell-but was impressed in that 10 minute under pressure spell-when the defenders got their bodies in fron of the ball and kept blocking-the effort was there-despite it being a friendly. The 'shoot on sight 'mentality also impressed-rather than ponce around trying to line up the perfect shot-the attackers gave it a go-ok most missed-but have enough goes and some will pay of.A bit selfish-but nothing wrong with a forward being selfish imo. Thought TCL got better and better as game went on-some really good creative passes-not so sure he is a box-to box type-but did make some serious creative opportunitie and has finesses-needs to beef up to cope with the ryman in essex on a wet november night and muddy pitch-but if it was down to me-i'd give him a go-and with more 'game time' reckon he will get better and better. Agree with JL's comments re:fitness-thought they did look fit-game was played at quite a frenetic pace-that seems to be part of the 'game plan'-but to slow it down occasionally may not do too much harm ?-variation in pace -as opposed to constant 100mph stuff ? Roseyboy
If u look at margate over past 3-4 years really are, at this level, a club on the move in right direction... Saved from relegation few season back by a technically, then safe from relegation, and last season a lower midtable finish... If we got upper mid table this season.. Who knowshow far we can go. From what I've heard seen the squad well starting 11 is strong this year espes in midfield... Still think to achieve promotion if this or next season the stadium has gotta be a runner else the crowds, investment, players won't come and stay. (just look at kwesi if building was ongoing and margate top of league would he have gone!!!) up the gate!!
michael
One other observation-was a bit surprised that Robinson did not go 'up' for attacking corners. Obviously a couple need to stay back-but robinson is one of our best headers-but he was the one who stayed back . thought that a bit odd-and possibly a wasted opportunity.its the little detsails which differentiate the teams in a close match.
