Dunstable Town FC v Luton Town FC Premier Cup Final Thursday 26th July 2012

Recommended Posts

Please note that the two premier sides in Bedfordshire are competing in the Beds Premier Cup Final on Thursday 26th July 2012 - 7 - 30 KO. To be played at our Creasey Park Stadium.

This will be a cracker as was the Beds Senior Cup Final at the end of the season DTFC getting narrowly beat in extra time. Two great sides giving the supporters value for money. Luton that evening fielding a strong side.

Lets hope we do Dunstable proud and get our hands on that Premier Cup.

Hope the day is successful and enjoyable for all. And it doesn't become a "who's got the biggest d!ck" competition with afc. I'm sure if the game us anything like the cup final it'll be a top game and a great day

How do Bedford Town feel about being outside the top two clubs in Beds? Lol

To be fair to Dunstable Town, they beat Leighton Town and Arlesey Town on the way to the final and both clubs play higher up the ladder.

I was only having a bit of cheeky banter did they beat Bedford Town? I would assume that Bedford Town are the 2nd highest ranked side in Beds, "our Creasey Park" interesting choice of words in original post too. I don't understand why what should be a great occasion for the town and football club should also be a thinly veiled dig at AFC otherwise this just goes found and round

Used to the digs now mate. Also DTFC do have a more illustrious history at the higher level. One day we might get there. We will bide our time. Edited by OD's

Fair play to you OD that attitude is prob what is needed between clubs. I hope DTFC achieve what they set out to which I assume is move up the pyramid. Good luck to them and you and an amicable alliance

"our Creasey Park" interesting choice of words

It has been OUR home for almost 50 years. I think we are entitled to call it so.

Well inthe interest of fair debate it was lost due to financial mis management and has been provided by the council for the use of both sides (if only someone would allow us to blow money and sort us a ground) If I lost my house through not paying mortgage and council bought it and rented it back to me it wouldn't be "mine" I believe that neither club owns its so it is home to both but belongs to neither. However if you it makes you feel better then go for your life. I would count my blessings if I were you that you were rescued where many other sides have vanished a little humility goes a long way. If I was on council I may be miffed that the club didn't have money for a ground but has money to pay players well, which was the root cause of all the problems in te first place. However none of my concern just an observation. I hope you have an excellent day and season, and that the town get behind you and you get the gates the club has the potential to get.

In the past the district council only leased us the ground. We were responsible for all the repairs and upkeep and that drained our resources no end. After the council and the Beds FA promised the Cuckoos a new home and then couldn't follow that up as they would rather sell it to Tesco's for large amounts of cash, we were essential threatened with extinction if we did not accommodate them.

Get over it Scotty. I know it's difficult at your age not to be jelous and not to steep youself in the history of DTFC's grand history, but the reason why Luton Town sent their first team and chose AFC as the opening fixture at Creasey is because they recognise we with our committee and youth team infrastruture are the club to do business and be partners with - its called progression. I hope LTFC send a strong side Thursday, maybe even their reserves, and lets hope you can get a few hundred there aye? ;)

You do make me smile with your delusions of grandeur.

Luton Town had arranged to play us on the 19th July before your game, but once again the Beds FA stepped in and asked us to move it and make it the Beds Premier Cup. What team we face is irrelevant as you can only beat what's in front of you.

As far your magnificent infrastructure goes, how many players have come through your youth teams and play for the first team?

I ask as last season most of your squad was made up of ex DTFC players. If memory serves me correctly, 10 in the first game and 11 in the second.

That sounds more like regression. ;-)

To both clubs. I am an exile but used to go to Creasey Park to watch the games in the 60'and 70's and saw the efforts put in behind the scenes just to survive. Be pleased you both have somewhere to play as the team I follow now being Margate were homeless for 4-5 years but are now back in a temporary ground at Hartsdown Park. Between both clubs you should be able to nurture the aspirations of those who want to play.

From memory LTFC have always supported the Bedfordshire clubs as much as they can and still appear to be doing just that. Make the most of any opportunity to get spectators thro the gates whichever club is playing and good luck to both clubs this year.

Surely mr scotty is right if 11 of there old players played for your team then you are not using the young players you said about?

You should not tell stories that are not right as the good lord will be watching over you

I had a gut feeling that all was not harmonious between the two Dunstable Club's!

And to think it was most civil in the boardroom at both Dunstable derbies last season. :)

Thats right PTG. As I have said time and time again. Officials from both clubs get on fine. Its just some followers live in the past and cannot move on.
