Wellsie
Fantatstic interest in tickets for the Palace match! With entry on the night, we could be on for our highest attendance since the Ramsgate derby in 2007! Gates open at 6.30 on Friday so get there early! michael
If wellsies post is correct-i think all those concerned deserve a pat on the back for the marketing and promotion of this fixture. Up against the olympic games-that is some achievement -and amazes me-which shows how little i know. Imagine the benefit to the clubs coffers if two higher profile psf's could be arranged for 2013/14 season
Wellsie
"IF?" And I'll take my share of pat too By way of interest, the top 3 attendances since we've been back at Hartsdown Park (2005) have been: 09/04/07 vs Ramsgate 1,676; 26/12/07 vs Ramsgate 1,508; and 23/09/06 vs AFC Wimbledon 1,385 with another two topping 1,000 and a couple of 900+. Coffin Ender
If anybody is dumb enough to watch the Olympics opening ceremony, it starts at 9pm and goes on beyond midnight, so you can see the game and see most of the ceremony.
michael
I have always considered myself to be dumb. Now confirmed. (one of the best bits of advice i was ever given was 'act dumb (thats comes naturally ) and dig deep ' )
AncientBlue
Two of the best bits of advice I was given as an apprentice at the Thanet Press back in 1957 by one Cecil Cork were: 1. Owe as much as you can for as long as you can . . . as they won't lock you up all the time you owe them money! 2. Always eat well as you can't screw living on bread and jam! I am Spartacus
If anybody is dumb enough to watch the Olympics opening ceremony, it starts at 9pm and goes on beyond midnight, so you can see the game and see most of the ceremony. As I heard someone say last night they are more worried about missing the Big Brother Live eviction on Friday night than missing the Boris Johnson Junket. SteveB
In all fairness, I was 20 yards from the incident and noticed nothing until the police arrival! Just had a scan of some Palace forums to see what their fans opinion on our performance was and stumbled across the following at http://www.holmesdal...d=123041&page=2 I was embarrassed to be a palace fan last night. Not because of the game, that was pretty good to be fair, but because of the two t***s that started the trouble. Both being 'palace fans'. A young group of margate fans were singing and out singing two 'fans' who didn't like it. One fat fan decided to push himself into this group of lads who didn't react. Then the t*** in the black coat of a palace fan decided it would be funny to throw beer on this group of lads. Such a hard man. Again this young group of margate fans didn't react. So the t*** who threw beer over the young lads decided then to get right in there faces. This guy must be well proud of himself taking on such a young group. One margate fan who wasn't involved with this group then tried to talk the palace fans down and calm then down telling them both clubs are family clubs. That's when these two t***s decided to throw a few punches. If you are on here you too need to take a serious look at yourselves. You're an embarrassment to yourselves, but also to the club. They were only there for one reason and that was to start trouble. Idiots. Seems as though, as always, it was 2 idiots in amongst 1500 non-idiots, that caused the problem. Tesco Bazza
Agree absolutly terrible behaviour from the palace fans. A big well done to the margate fan who gave one of thema good slap! I've seen 2 games now and have been really impreseed with us defensivly and the speed we attack. Looking forward to the season starting now
SteveB
A complimentary comment on that same thread................ I agree, it was embarrassing. The young 'gate fans were just to my left with the big palace hard lads just in front of them. These palace guys are usually okay and I have seen them plenty of times without any bother, I wouldn't want to mess with any of them mind you (and not saying they haven't had bother in the past) but the banter did start getting a bit personal with a 'gate fan on crutches just behind me giving the big lads large and I think they said something about him so his brother went over to give it some and that's when the rest of it kicked off. Quite scary for lots of the youngsters from both clubs there but the stewards dealt with it quick enough and, as stated earlier in this thread, the police came after about 20 minutes and started swarming the bar and our terrace area but didn't appear to get hold of anyone. Pity about this incident as it is a nice ground and a good family club. Margate itself is like a post nuclear attack town, all boarded up and full of pikey chavs
