The Irony of Life.

Recommended Posts

Having been the biggest whinger over Guernsey getting 7 of their last 8 games at home last year.It now follows that they will get 6 out of 7 Games at home from 24th November--29th December

24th Nov.---Home --South Park

1st Dec -----Home --Windsor

8th Dec -----AWAY --Croydon

15th Dec ---Home ---Sandhurst

22nd Dec ---Home ---Dorking

26th Dec ----Home ---Horley Town, match to be played any convenient time over XMAS PERIOD

29th Dec. ---Home ---Hanworth Villa.

Must be that the Egg Chasers have a December break from playing at Footes Lane, the irony being for me that their only AWAY GAME is at Croydon FC.I just hope that we get a mild winter for everyones sake.Even I could not make this up,with my vivid imagination.

And there was me thinking that guernsey would have to play the same amount of home and away games as everyone else...

This thread is even more amazing than I thought,Molesey do not play a Home Game till October 6th,even given the BANK hOLIDAY OFF,and luckily drawn away in the F.A Cup,F.A Vase. And amazingly their first home game is against Croydon FC.This must be due to the NEW IMPROVEMENTS at Walton Road, everyone was in the link bar yours truly,or were they.THIS LEAGUE IS LIKE THE SECRET SOCIETY,Why were they not told to find a Groundshare a la Worcester Park,Colliers Wood were over the past seasons?

and this affects you in what way Smudge????

Do you see any of the clubs that are affected by it moaning ? NO !

You are a very dedicated person so i suggest focus your energies on helping out at a club rather than moaning on here

If you think you can do a better job of the fixtures why not offer your services?

I don't think that Alan/Whitelaw would be too happy.

Smudge, there's probably a perfectly good reason (or I should say reasons) for the fixtures being allocated thus. Molesey have the builders in, Guernsey have travel logistics to sort, Worcester Park ground-share with the cricket and even Sheerwater have a load of away games at the start of their season (probably because of the Olympics).

Fixtures can't always be H A H A H A (no, I'm not laughing) and ground-shares etc. make it very difficult. It's not just a case of typing 22 or 18 clubs on a spreadsheet and hitting 'randomise'. I tried to do a mock premier-league fixture list on Excel once, got half-way and then it was like pulling teeth! I had to change fixtures around, but as I changed one I had to change five or six others and then change their fixtures which were impacted which impacted on another team etc.

ATOS need a kick in their French pants, though, for not getting a relief compiler in when their main one had to deal with a family bereavement. Why couldn't somebody have stepped in to help deliver the fixtures on time, thus relieving pressure on the compiler? Common sense surely?

There's nothing wrong with Molesey not playing at home until October. It's good that the league can show flexibility and I'm not aware of any other club in the Premier Division moaning about it. We all play 21 at home, 21 away, the order doesn't matter. I presume if they get drawn at home in FA competitions they'll have to change grounds.

Our ground was out of action at the beginning of 1990-91 season after our stand burnt down and took half the pitch with it. We didn't play at home in the league until December 4th that season. We played a few games at neutral venues (playing Epsom & Ewell at Newbury was a bit surreal) but the Ryman League helped us out by giving us a load of away games at the beginning of the season.

If Molesey's ground isn't quite ready for the start of the season it's no big deal. The only people losing out are Molesey themselves as they won't have any match income for a while.

I've not seen the details but apparently there are pictures on Facebook of the work going on at their ground.

You realise GFC would end up with all away fixtures and no home fixtures if that happened? Including 3 games on boxing day, quadruple headers on bank holiday weekends and 2 consecutive weeks of a game every weekday evening.

I'm sure Smudge wouldn't be as cold and heartless.

This is how I would do it:

(Mock Fixtures)

Guernsey Mock Fixtures 2012-13

(H) Hartley Wintney

(A) Croydon

(H) Bedfont Sports

(A) Wembley

(A) Raynes Park Vale

(H) Camberley Town

(A) Egham Town

(H) Windsor

(A) Dorking

(H) Cove

(H) Badshot Lea

(A) Hanworth Villa

(H) Farnham Town

(A) Chessington & Hook United

(H) South Park

(A) Molesey

(H) Colliers Wood United

(A) Sandhurst Town

(H) Horley Town

(H) Epsom & Ewell

(A) Ash United

Then the second part of the season would be a mirror of the first (Hartley Wintney away, Croydon home etc. ending up with Ash United at home)

No problems with flexibility at all,but at least be even handed when making decisions.Still wrangles with me that when Dixon Gill was ill in Hospital and Croydon FC could not fulfill a Fixture,no compssion was shown, just a £300 Fine.Yet when Badshot Lea failed to fulfill a fixture at Horley NO FINE was imposed, flexibility was the order of the day there was it not.

How can you be even handed unless every teams situation is exactly the same?? As this isn't (and I doubt ever would be) the case, then each situation has to be dealt with as best as it can for all concerned and as ever this is what Whitelaw will have done.

Unfortunately there is no pleasing some people no matter what is done.

11:30 on boxing day, ouch.

I presume this means the Horley Town team are spending Christmas in Guernsey? They'll have to come over on Christmas eve surely unless their getting the earliest flight over but then it seems strange that they'd play quite so early?

Anyone know the answer?

They will also be lucky enough to make up for their home games over the winter with a run of 6 out of 8 games away from home in the all important crucial final games of the season.

I had been rather hoping we'd still keep the home run at the end along with the run over the Winter! Oh well, needs must I suppose!

It does state that "Match to be played at any convenient time/day over Christmas period" so I imagine it will be re-arranged slightly to be convenient for all concerned.
