The Great Eckscape
Blimey, evidence that someone actually reads it! All the best for the season ahead.
jl
I think that anyone who saw last season's pre-season will know that pre- season is not necessarily a guide to future performance. It was a good day for the fans, getting back to seeing some football in nice weather and a decent crowd. Less good for our team though. Brightly, Wild and Luke all picked up injuries and on the limited evidence available none if the triallists looked better than what we already have. On the positive side, I thought we controlled the first half with our first xi out there. Nathan Green looked better after a shaky end to last season. Of the "possibles" I thought two players who were with us last season did the best in Small and Radley. At the risk of stating the obvious a striker who knows where the goal is is a major priority and also some cover at full back. It was a good run-out for our first game and I imagine has given Craig some food for thought. On to East Furrock Tuesday. Come on you Blues!! Umbrella Man
Was an enjoyable game for a pre season looked very sharp from the off was in control until some forced changes, looked a little ragged 2nd half when a few of the younger lads entered they fray but over all was a decent work out for the boys against a Canvey team that i expect to be at the top end of the Ryman Prem this season. Ryan.c
Can only go by the first 45 where we pretty much dictated the game. Small hit the bar and looked lively. Could've/should've been a couple up going into the break. Second half a bit disjointed with the changes, but disappointing to give away two soft goals. A flurry of chances towards the end gave their keeper a work out but overall 2-0 flattered the scumbags! A David (spit) Knight type of forward needed as I think we'll need to be a lot more clinical in front of goal.
