AFC v LTFC game

We are playing Northwood in a pre-season game unsure.png

Looking back, bit of a mistake playing 2 games in 2 days. Northwood was booked in before the Luton game but did not want to let them down.

Its only pre-season so the results dont matter to much its more about trying out new players and gaining match fitness. The 11th is when the serious stuff starts.

Thanks, but conceding 15 goals in 2 games does not really install confidence.

Also you have to remember Luton Town are four levels higher and Northwood are one level higher than AFC Dunstable so that has to be taken in to context aswell. AFC Dunstable will be ok come the start of the season and im sure you will finish in the top four if not top of the league.

Hope the rest of your pre-season goes well.

Absolutely spot on again Sav, yes we looked at a number of trialists who we have onmly seen at training on the Sunday so it answered a few questions, and it was a real fitness test for the 4 or so players who still had the tired legs from the Luton game. The Luton game was not so much a difference in class, you can go someway to neutralising that by denying them space and closing your lines in the final qrt, the main issue was the difference in fitness/tempo/sharpness and we were chasing shadows. I honestly believe with 3 months into a season and with our fitness up then you will have seen a far closer game, but the players, supporters and AFC as a whole had a great day entertaining a team of that quality, particular in the name of David Preece, a true legend.

I thought the first half was one sided, 3 Luton players stood out for me, Adam Watkins who was just quality, Dan Walker who's pace gave you problems even if he didnt always pick out the right final ball and Alex Lawless who was having a field day down the right. Second half though was fairly even, didnt think Luton opened up AFC Dunstable as easy as in the first half, plus also AFC had a few chances to add to the scoreline themselves.
