Margate Don
a few pictures from tonight's game against Corinthians are now on the MFC website at http://www.margate-f...iv=thumbs&Qis=S. The images and captions do not appear to be displaying correctly so I'll ask Steve Ball to look into this. Some of the names escape me (even some of those I knew earlier this evening!) but I will try to update as and when I can (although you may not be able to read currently anyway!) SteveB
As a bit of an update, I have had a look and can see what the problem is with the background code but not what is causing it! The photo gallery is the very last piece of 3rd party code on the site so, having not written the code myself, it may take a while to work out what caused the error. In the meantime, if you click on the empty thumbnail boxes at the bottom of the page, you do get to see the main images.
Coffin Ender
New faces - four minutes Chris Smalling, 67 minutes Nicolas Anelka.
BlueGate Alan
New faces were a flying winger called Rhodes (in 1st picture) and Carl Rook up front. Both very impressive, as was Long and our new keeper. Also a new right back called Starkey looked promising too. Nobody really impressed me in 2nd half from the new faces except one in midfield who made some nice touches. Whitnell looks pacy up front but no service to him in 2nd half but I would love to see him team up with Rook in next game.
Jeff Trice
That's Alex Rhodes who played quite a bit of league football and was at Canvey last year. Starkey is Phil Starkey, ex Dover, Tonbridge, Ebbsfleet etc. Possibly the son of our former player Ian Starkey.
Coffin Ender
I meant to say, is Chris Breach of Lewes the son of Steve Breach, who also played for Lewes?
BlueGate Alan
Correct as always Jeff
SteveB
Carl Rook??? That has got me excited as I seem to recall him being quite prolific!!
BlueGate Alan
He looked good Steve, was unlucky not to score in first minute as somehow a defender & keeper stopped his flick of the line (not sure either knew how they did). Won a few in air as you would expect but I liked the way he held the ball up too.
Jeff Trice
Rook got 20+ goals for Tonbridge a couple of years back and always seems to have got goals when he's played regularly. Coffin Ender - suspect that the Breach's are father and son but never been able to confirm it. Same goes for Ian and Phil Starkey.
I am Spartacus
In discussion with a player last night we both agreed that a certain player who will wear #1 will score at HDP. It was so nice to hear a keeper comanding his area and being confident when he had the ball.

michael
I believe carl Rook has found it tougher going the last couple of seasons; but i am sure CK and a bit of sea air at Margate would revitalise him. So who is this midfield player who according to BGA impressed in second half-boy do we need some new quality in central midfield ? Interesting that there appears to be no sign of this defender from an essex club-forget which one-think it was michael someone-who was tweeting a couple of months back that he was signing/training with Margate. He may have thought so-but maybe CK did'nt-or some peope just use that as a medium to let others know of their availability. BlueGate Alan
Alaile was certainly playing for us Tuesday night and still training with us.
michael
cheers-good. His name had not previously been mentioned in 'dispatches'/reports re: tuesday night. I assume he was one of the second half trialists
BlueGate Alan
Yes he was Michael, looked big and strong in air but did get caught a few times with the pace of one of Corinthian forwards.
