do you have a short sighted chairman, surely it's the supporters encouragement at each game that brings out the best in there team, the manager and his staff along with the players should be performing to the best of their ability on the pitch and yes it is sometimes true that us supporters do have a high expectation of our team but is this a bad thing ?..............

I think we got to be realistic!

If we want a young side who put in 100% effort perhaps yet we wont have the experience and the quality to win all the time! Its good having young players in the side and no doubt will always give there all but you do need that experience to go far! I know we have been let down this season by certin players(ie performances)but we wont win or challenge with just young pups playing!Maybe people need to re think about city and now think yeah there a young side and give them time and dont expect to win things or win the league!

We all want players that give 100% and on sat i thought we got that, just bit of luck on our side and bit of class from perhaps the senior players and we are on our way!

I do think the fans play there part and need to be loud and encouraging! On sat i heard abuse hailed at thomo and thats no good!confidence is low and i cant see how that can help??we need to really get behind them and that will also help the younger players!

lets no expect too much and hopefully our season starts now....

Hi Zealster.

The opening paragraph of The Chairman's programme notes was:

"As most of you will know by now, Steve Cook left the club earlier this week. Much has been said in the newspapers and on the web-site and all I can really add, is to reiterate, that we are unlikely ever to get a Manager who is as committed to the job as Steve Cook was.I read in the Observer about Steve's tribute to the supporters and most of that was from the heart and well meant but I do know that in reality, he felt let down by a few who had the knives out from an early stage. In the event, I am personally sorry to see Steve go and I really do wish him all the best for the future."

Always pleased to assist.

Thanks AFF.

I wonder if Cookie felt at all let down by a comment of Laz's at the start of the season?

Cookie saw Laz in the Westward Couriers shirt, and asked what it was.

"It was our 97-98 shirt," replied Laz. "That was when we were good!!"

So. '...knives out...", writes Gibbo. Hardly. There was no chanting and the booing only started very recently. I can't really think what Gibbo's referring to. <img src="/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

i think all this hearts and minds stuff is unhelpful. Anyone with even a basic knowledge of the non-league game could see from our pre-season signings that we had a mess on our hands. No capable left back, no midfield hub, no truly in-form strikers, and Mark Graham and Scott Oakes adornments at best. This squad was never going to compete. There was also the issue of who was really in charge of the coaching etc. Now at least publically resolved with Cook leaving.

Pressure, you create your own pressure, if the chairman and manager say at the begginnig of the season that we will be challenging, have a better squad than last year and at the very least want to finsih higer than last year, then that's putting yourselves under pressure, if they said we'll be happy with 12th place and a place in the new conference then there isn't as much pressure, the supporters may of been dissapointed with this but it takes the pressure away!
