Just had a letter from Roy that on the subject of a forward move on our ground status: "Martyn Deaner is not letting it rest, working flat out on his projects, he still maintains he is on course with our development".

 

Yeah, really! But he has been maintaining that for the last five years. "Fine words butter no parsnips" as Grannie used to say!

 

In any case, I see that Herschel Grammar School have the go ahead to work on a community sports centre worth £2.5M funded by Sport England, with another £400K from the New Opportunities fund. Weren't Sport England the people who ensured that STFC could not be included in the Sports Development Plan for Slough? The new scheme will provide facilities for 80,000 community visits per year......

 

Not to mention that work starts on OCTOBER 27TH. What kept them all this time? What, no six month feasibility study to see if it is possible? What does that do for facilities in Kennedy Park? Did the Council know about this beforehand - of course they did - Councillor Rajinder Sandhu was at the announcement.

 

Does anybody else have an uncomfortable feeling about this? Stuffed again?

I'll be honest, as I don't really understand all this behind-the-scenes stuff, is that good or bad news?

Bad news from the looks of things, but I want to know what these supposed other projects are that he is working on

With that new development at Herschel Grammar, surely that would put a dent in Martyn's 'plans' with floodlit training areas on all weather pitches? There's seemingly enough of them around the place now cropping up at various schools across the town, so why would they be used at Kennedy Park apart from our own team using them.

 

As long as Martyn is running this 'project', or perhaps even involved, we'll be kept in the dark as to what is really happening, and we can all sit and wait until he screws it all up trying to take us with it. I'll be at the front of the queue eating humble pie if it all comes off, but with that mans past record, can you really see it happening?

Incidentally, the Planners have also given the OK for a new Sikh Sports Hall with loads of facilities, subject to Government Approval, on green belt land near St Johns Church in Stoke Poges Lane.

 

Yet another facility with seeming little difficulty in being given the planning OK - what did we do wrong?

If us being a football club is what's holding everything up then we could show them the footage from the Hampton & Richmond game and argue otherwise!
