Hatfield Town Repreived

Recommended Posts

Chairman Chris Maloney was understandably delighted with the announcement.

He said: “I got a call from the [sSML] chairman, who asked if we were able to play in the Premier Division, with the correct ground-grading and the like.

I will obviously be writing to the league, askin them to reassess Hatfields facilities and their suitability for Premier League football...... ; )

From the SSML minutes received this evening

SPARTAN SOUTH MIDLANDS FOOTBALL LEAGUE

EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETING

25th June 2012

Present: Mr P Burns (Chair); Messrs. N Ingram, J Thompson, E Harrison, M Ewen,

P Rolt, R Flight, D Henman, B Scholes, T Forrester, T Weight, W Hamilton, T Gilmore, T Weight, J Bean and B Smith

1. Apologies for absence.

1.1. Apologies were recorded from Messrs. M Mitchell and M Taylor.

2. Constitution issues.

2.1. The Chairman reported that Broxbourne Borough had advised that the previous owners of the club had left the club with large debts, which may necessitate them placing the club into liquidation unless other financial backing can be found.

This meant that London Lions, who ground share at Broxbourne Borough, may not have a ground to play on next season unless the position is resolved quickly.

London Lions had expressed their concern at the situation and wished to stabilise their position in the near future. In this respect they had requested dispensation to play Saturday home games at their Rowley Lane headquarters, which does not have floodlights, with mid week matches being played at Hemel Hempstead Town for next season. The club had advised that they were in the process of applying for planning permission for facilities required for Step 6, but did not expect this to be resolved quickly.

The Committee considered their position, which was not of their own making, and decided to grant dispensation for this for next season only, with Saturday kick off times set to reflect the fact that they do not have floodlights.

EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETING

3rd July 2012

Present: Mr P Burns (Chair); Messrs. N Ingram, J Thompson, E Harrison, M Ewen,

P Rolt, R Flight, D Henman, M Taylor, B Scholes, T Forrester, T Weight, W Hamilton, J Bean and B Smith

1. Apologies for absence.

1.1. Apologies were recorded from Messrs. M Mitchell, M Owen and T Gilmore.

2. Constitution issues.

2.1. The Chairman reported that Broxbourne Borough had advised that at a meeting on 2 July 2012, the members had voted to place the club in liquidation.

The club wishes to reform as a members club and realises they must forfeit their place in the Premier Division and has requested they be admitted to Div. Two.

The Committee considered the vacancy caused in the Premier Division and decided that in accordance with FA Regulations, Hatfield Town be reprieved from relegation.

It was also agreed that, subject to FA approval, the new club, AFC Broxbourne Borough V & E, should be placed in Division Two.

Any idea as to what will happen with the vacancy that has now been created in Division 1?

Also, where will AFC Broxbourne Borough V&E play their fixtures next season?

Someone called Bye.

You should never want a bye. No chance of picking up some much needed cash if a victory is achieved.

Very sad news to read. Looks like they've been caught where dozens of clubs flout their license regulations & get away with it.

Sad also for other clubs as it was always a great surface to play on.

I still don't agree with all this reprieve business. If a club is in the relegation zone, it should be relegated. Hoddesdon performed on the pitch last season & their 3rd place should be rewarded.

It will be interesting to see if BB V&E will reform with the same management team & squad.

Hoddesdon Town were not in a promotion spot to come up.

People need to understand that promotion and relegation is unfortunately not always decided on a teams finishing position.

Ground grading and finances will always play a part in who goes up and who stays down.

Everyone knows where they stand and the beginning of each season on this as the Rules cover any given situation..........or they should do.

There's no precedence for promotion from third? There must be

If a situation arises which is not covered in the Competition Rules then the Competition may decide at the AGM to alter the Constitution with a proposal either to the Clubs or from the Clubs. This may also occur at an EGM.

As for the precedence that you have stated, you will have to get a reply from someone who has been involved in the SSML a lot longer than me as I don't recall any occasion where this has happened.

As previously stated in this thread

"in accordance with FA Regulations, when a vacancy occurs a club that has been relegated is reprieved" - same thing happens with all the repreives at step 4.
