Wednesday 18 July

3-1 Hoddesdon Town v Ware XI

A report on this one from another Forum:

Pre Season Friendly 7pm

Hoddesdon Town 3 Ware 1 att.30

@The Country Club, Cheshunt

No admission or programme.

Ware ahead after just 2 minutes, but Hoddesdon scored on 13 and 15 minutes to edge in front. In a game that was pretty much end to end it was a surprise that it wasn't until 11 minutes from time that the game was made safe.

Ware had a completely new outfield team for the second half, whilst Hoddesdon started their subs from the hour mark and it made them less effective as it broke up their rhythm.

The Country Club has 2 pitches, the one on the right if looking from the clubhouse/changing rooms used tonight, with the other pitch being used by St.Margaretsbury for another friendly. There is cover on the front of the building which has a good vantage point from behind the goal with the pitches running away lengthways.

M25 was hell going to the game, taking 2 1/4 hours through rain and accidents, but thankfully less than an hour back home.

Wednesday 18 July

3-1 Hoddesdon Town v Ware XI

1-1 St Margaretsbury Reserves v Cheshunt (u-18)

Reports and photos from another Forum:

St Margaretsbury FC Reserves 1-1 Cheshunt FC U18's

pre-season friendly

Attendance:18(h/c)

no programme

admission:free

played at Tesco Country Club,Cheshunt.

St Margaretsbury started off like a rocket having 2 shots cleared off the line and hitting the bar once before going 1-0 up.After having the best of the first 20 minutes Cheshunt upped their game and started to add pressure on the St Margaretsbury goal getting an equaliser after 25 mins. The match was a good entertaining match which St Margaretsbury having just over 60% of possession just couldn't get the winner they deserved. An excellent workout for the Cheshunt U18's bodes well for the coming season.

From Twitter earlier it would appear that Holmer Green and Aylesbury Utd have both had their games postponed tomorrow. Wellingborough unable to raise a side 8 players injured in a midweek friendly!

Ampthill town 1 Sileby rangers 4 . Great game to watch it was played over three 30 minutes , both teams put out there strongest for the first period , ampthill won it 1.0 , the second period Sileby won 1.0 . Then Craig bicknell put out a lot of players on trial for the last 30 and they lost it 3.0 . It was a very tough game for ampthill town against a strong ex long buckby side

Peter,

Correction to 19th July: - should read Dunstable Town 1 Leighton Town 2

Another result from today (not on list) Crawley Green 2 Dunstable Town 5

Also see pre-season fixture thread for some updates

All added, Karen. Thanks.
