I have to say that I'm very surprised that Rhodesy hasn't started an Amanda Knox style viral campaign yet claiming his innocence.

 

Do we think he could be innocent or are we just outraged that someone so stupid has broken a sovereign country's laws and will face that country's punishment?

Strange one this. Haven't we all been outraged when America has had British nationals extradited for allegedly committing crimes on British soil that are not illegal in our country.

 

Not condoning drug dealing, but the death penalty for flogging a small amount of marijuana does seem a tad steep to me, when in the UK it would hardly warrant an official warning.

I agree it is harsh, it's such a stupid thing to lose a life over but this is how crimes like these are dealt with in countries like the UAE. We heear time and again how corrupt the system is, how informants are paid on results of convictions and all too often the informant is the person who organises the whole venture. Life is cheap to these people but you'd think that any western visitor would be wise to these schemes. Just don't do it, if it sounds too good to be true, that easy money, then it more than often is.
