I think as Steve has always told us that players will be brought to the club that he thinks will add to the existing squad. Players will come who he feels want to play for the club and not for other reasons. The club has no sugar daddy and is run the correct way ( not say as per some , Kettering , Truro and Rangers spring to mind ). Steve has always said he will work to the budget provided and as such I for one think it promotes the right way for the club to progress, gradually and solvently. Big names and big ego,s don't guarantee success. Steve has said the players who got us up will be given their chance to prove that they can play at the next level. I think this is the way to go , continuity and stability since he came to the club have seen us progress year on year. Yes next season is a new and bigger challenge but one we should all be looking forward to positively not worrying about what might happen. If we need to improve and finances allow I'm sure as we have seen Steve will do his utmost to ensure it happens.

I also remember the start of last season when a lot of us thought Hopey wasn't good enough to help us get out of RD1N . Promotion and Golden Boot 8 months later hahaha. Remember Adams 1st season as well under Steve & Del he took a lot of stick ( bIg key player now ) . Fans will always have favourites by it proves to me anyway that players should be given time to prove their worth just like RVP at Arsenal and now he has he is OFF

There's a chance to catch up on who has returned to the club at training tonight at QE. The bars open as well if that encourages anyone.

 

Its also a great chance to see how good the pitch is looking before they muck it up with all that football mularkey!

I think we as supporters are too quick to judge and make knee-jerk reactions. As a supporter who doesnt make it to about half of our games, its difficult for me to wholly say but with regards our players - Hope - I'm not sure that people thought he wasnt good enough as in his previous couple of years with the club he still scored goals and lets not forget he is the clubs 3rd highest scoring player EVER! perhaps a consistent run of games helped similar to other players and Mr Newing needs to take credit for that as his predecessors were quick to change the squad all too frequently. Who would have thought that Rudi and Bran would have got us out of the league and we were all doubting the new players like Pennant, Ewang, Osei at the start of last season. Just shows the manager knows what he's doing (hopefully)! Its also worth noting that we have some very good players, but half the reason they play at this level is their inability to play consistently to that good level, hence why they are non-league and not league footballers.

 

Lets hope this seasons new players are given a little time because lets face it, we are going to have some struggling periods and indifferent results. We are no longer the big dogs in the league expected to win every week.

Yes I remember the moaning minnies too, in fact I was still hearing the moaners after we got promoted.

 

CD makes some very good points too, Players are good players and the manager is one who has his criteria for signing a player and sticks to it. One key factor is if a new player is not going to improve the starting line up then he is not worth signing up. Easy philosophy.

 

Additionally, Steve has been with us for 3 season's we have had 2 play off final's and an injury hit season where we finished 6th. He progressed us further in the FA Cup/Trophy than any other manager and got us the highest points tally last season ever.

 

We are in good hand's both on and off the pitch, the bookies make us 33/1 to win the league, so a bit of realism by people who are deemed to know what they are talking about.

 

I challenge every moaning supporter to express an intelligent, constructive criticism if there ever is one, cos at times and in my humble opinion, some fan's are embarrassingly out of touch.
