WEMBLEY FA FA CUP???

Recommended Posts

Which SSMFL side wants to be paired with Wembley FC in the FA Cup draw after this was announced today - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18534739

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/jun/21/budweiser-wembley-fc-sponsorship

Parlour, Keown, Le Saux, Cannigia and McBride have all signed up to play for them in FA Cup game(s).

Some people have been saying Wembley have sold out and it is de-values the competition but it'll sure bring the crowds in and attract some headlines for the non-league... I can see both sides of the argument really??

Ian Bate's (Wembley manager) words lends the argument that anything that brings money in in this tough economic times must be good..... "The initiative shines a light on non-league football reminding people of the importance of amateur football in contributing to the development of the national game," and "A year ago we were playing in front of an empty grandstand and the clubhouse was falling down. Now the investment means great times are waiting for Wembley FC and we can't wait to kick off our FA Cup campaign."............

It would be great to a SSMFL side getting a home draw.

Cannigia stepping out at Forde Park???

Parlour at Lowfield???

Who knows???

The Cold End – I assume Wembley will be entering the FA Cup at the Extra Preliminary Round stage on Saturday 11 August, I gather that the draws for the various FA competitions will be released on 6 July but you can bet they will draw a non SSML Club

On the 29th August 1992 Welwyn Garden City visited Vale Farm to face Wembley in the FA Cup, a game that was the first to feature in Football Focus 'The Road to Wembley'. Ex England striker Gary Lineker was in attendance at the game. For the record Wembley won 5-0 and photos from the game also featured in Team Talk.

Feel a bit sorry for the regular players that will miss out on playing in the FA Cup game or games.

Here's a link to all the entrants for the FA competitions this season, I see that Kentish Town are not entered for the FA Cup:

Craig and PTG.... you are so right....you can't beat The FA Cup

A chance to put a run together and take some of the decent prize money.

For us fans its just magic even if Stotfold beat Enfield Town last year.

I have find memories of following the old Enfield to Chesterfield, Preston NE, York City, Torquay, Leicester City, Cardiff City and others in the 90s...

Not saying a SSML club will make it to the 'proper' rounds but a good run to play a Conny South team would be good.

Best of luck to all teams

Lost 2-0 not the greatest of games but occasion was brilliant. I still think if we had of had Gary Abbott up front (suspended from being sent off v Torquay) we would of at least scored and who knows?

I Love the FA Cup. Looking forward to the draw and hope the SSML teams do well

Had one in the FA Cup and three in the FA Vase last season and they were all enjoyable game.

Had you had appointments in the prestigious FA Cup previously or was that your only one

Knowing you as I do you must be as proud as a peacock to walk out for an FA Cup tie and like a dog with two tails
