Law Changes.

Recommended Posts

Once in a lifetime occurrence, does not defend the others who have not.He was clearly rewarded well by his Masters for doing something brave, within the Laws I may add.By not officiating at the latter stages of the Tournament. The corner had been taken I presume, and was in Play.

The main reason he didn't officiate in the latter stages of this tournament was because on of his assistants failed for a clear offside infringement which led to a goal in a subsequent game. As a result the 'team' of officials were sent home. UEFA were very supportive of Webbs decision to award the penalty, and this despite him warning the defenders seconds before the corner kick was taken.

All officials wearing black kit would be good but then many clubs would have to change their kits to avoid the potential clash of dark coloured shirts with those of the officials.

I don't think you'll find many refs at CCL level wanting to wear a green, yellow or red shirt.

You'll be expecting to see officials with white laces in their boots next!

Other than at Football League, Premier League and International levels, match officials are obligated by the FA to wear Black kit and are NOT permitted to change at the request of a club. Clubs are obliged not to register, or wear, colours which may clash with the match officials kit. This also includes the Goalkeepers. Socks and Shorts aside of course. Reason being that clubs at those levels change kits on a regular basis and include black or very dark colours in a bid to maximise replica shirt revenue. Match officials at those levels are provided with additional, coloured, kits whereas officials at those levels below have to provide the kit themselves. Decent kit would cost £70 - £80 all in.
